Has anbody else doen what I'm trygin to do, suggestions, good manufactors.. I believe Moss makes a bar that might be an option for you.

You can see it on their website here.

There's also a NAM user out there that has this bar on his BRG MC. He's in Maryland, I believe.

Yeah Moss was the other one I found.. are there any others out there? can anybody speak to the quality, craftsmanship, ease of use, alternative hookups of these types of installations... like paint rubbing, rust, falling apart, breaking, problems with the seller and mini service? better prices?

Two things to consider. where does the bar mount and how hard is it to assemble. To the hood or the bumper frame.

I would think that if it to the hood like the MOSS one, you will get a lot vibration due to the wieght of four lights. However, assembly is pretty straight forward.

If it to the frame like the MiniSport one, you get a sturdier bar but it will be a much greater pain to assemble. If you look, Mini sport has the install instructions on their site. Looks to be rigid as anything when done, but wow, that is a job to get it one. Plus you don't have to worry about the lights getting out of adjustment every time you slam the hood.

If you have the patience, my vote would be for the MiniSport bar.

I like the MossMINI rally bar and lights. I only have 2 lights, but could easily add 2 more. The quality is very high. I had mine professionally installed by a friend of mine.

Octane Guy,

Nice pair!

Do they vibrate much or are they a steady beam when in use?

Ha ha. They are very steady. Of course I normally use them to blind the SUV and jerks that try to run me off the road! But seriously, they are steady. I replaced the rubber o-rings with dynamat sound aborbtion material and placed it at all contact points. My installer friend and I felt it was a simple enhancement, and he knows what he's doing, so I trust him!

Hello chollomo, I just went through two months of trying to come up with a rally aux. light setup and there's not many options. My main goal was to install a quality light system with NO vibration. I asked my salesman at Otto's in Wesr Chester, PA, when I ordered my MCS in December if he had any ideas. It turned out that Otto's was also looking to put some rally aux. lights on their MC that they race with. After some brainstorming they decided to use 7" diameter round Hella FF1000 Driving Lights with individual stainless steel mounting brackets similiar to the OEM mounts used through the grill. These lights were chosen because of their lighting quality and look, some other Hella lights were oval or square in shape and would not have that retro look we were looking for. A Hella pull type illuminated switch was placed on the left side of a Euro parcel self. I decided on a three light setup, similiar to those used on the rally competition MC's in the 60's, the two outer lights are aimed in a crisscross pattern for turns and the middle light is aimed straight ahead. A light bar was going to used but it was decided that it might cause too much vibration and add too much weight to the hood.
I should have my MCS delivered by the end of this month. I'll post a photo of my light setup for your info. Good luck on your endeavor.
Cherrs, Harper.

I'll be getting these soon (a gift I'm not supposed to know about ). Could you expand a little on the install and what you found? Also, which model lights are these? I plan on doing 2 fog and 2 driving, think that will work?

Thanks

to really go with the rally and retro look, if the lights still vibrate you can also put some kind of thin metal brace between the top of the light and the hood. yes, I know it then means you have to drill a hole in both the top of the light and the hood.

having had older Audis that would tend to make modern art out of the wiring harness when either auxiliary or upgraded lights were added, what needs to be done to upgrade the wiring harness on a Mini? How many lights can you add with the existing wiring harness?
