Software version (no nav)

I have a 2nd gen MINI COOPER S, 2012 model - I got it back in february, and at some point I found in the boost radio the version of the software running in the car. It was like 123.123.123.123 (different numbers of course).

I don't have MINI Connected, or the visual boost stuff, does anybody know how to get the software version from the radio? I can't seem to find the menu option any more. I want it so that I can figure out exactly what DATENS files I need for coding the car.

That is not the version of the software you have. That is the placeholder for the version number which is not used on the majority of modules. The version number is more like the part-number and is specific to the hardware, country version etc. In german BMW calls it the Zusbau-Nummer (ZB-Nr.). An example is 9185618 which is one of the last versions of the old MINI CCC.

Anyway... The latest datens are best to use, as they usually include support for all previous versions. Also what you are most interested in (unless you want to flash your modules) is coding and therefore the coding index of your unit. Coding Indexes do not change as often as software versions.
