2011 MCS catch can

Should I get a catch can for my Mini....or does the new engine this year have the carbon problem solved?

Catch can

I made one for 2012 MCS several months ago using parts from ebay and the local hardware store, the thing is bone dry so far....

My 2008 had a noticable amount by this time. I am going to leave mine on but so far things look good.

Might be good just for piece of mind!

I put one on my 2007 MCS and emptied it for the first time yesterday after 500 miles and there was 3/8 " of liquid in it.

The 2011 has the different engine.....

I do not want to invest into something I do not need

The N18 has the same problem. Even though the crankcase ventilation system has been redesigned, it still dumps vapor directly into the intake. There are probably going to be a lot of people that tell you otherwise since they think the N18 is the miracle engine for the MCS. A catch can is a good investment, but I would still take the intake off once a year and clean things out manually. There is no substitute for a good scrub.

There is a sizable preexisting thread on this subject with (mostly) good information:

Enjoy!
