New Down Pipe and JCW stock exhaust or DP and Full exhaust?

Hello all,

I have some questions about what to do with the exhaust on my Mini JCW 2010

What size is the pipes on the stock setup 2.5"?

I am in debate on keeping stock setup except for new cast manifold from Way and new Down pipe.

Then I was looking at a NM full DP back exhaust setup.

What do you all have on your rides and what do you suggest.

I don't mind the current exhaust and sound but I would like to increase the HP and also allow my ALTA tune to safely do Tune Stage 2 and possibly 3 on occasion.

Can I get away with manifold and DP or should I just swap every thing out?
Trying to avoid drone as well.

Let me know your thoughts.

just downpipe it with the jcw exhaust. i dont think the mani is gonna help much on a factory jcw. maybe on a mcs it would.

I've been thinking about a similar setup myself, i.e. just doing a cat less DP with resonatorless stock JCW exhaust. It would be a catless system at that point so if it is indeed 2.5" we should be good to go.

Akrapovic downpipe with the stock jcw manifold that has been port matched to turbo and head
then extrude honed with a ceramic coating inside and out will give very good gains.

Keep the stock Jcw exhaust but replace pipe from downpipe to resonator to get rid of the slight pinch
the stock system has just after downpipe.

Will be very loud and every cop you see will pull you over for db noise.

FYI, measured the resonator that was cut out and it is 2.25". So I don't think it would be enough to run a Stage 3 tune on the AP.

Nah, there are a enough rednecks with straight pipes on their trucks that you won't even hear my car. After measuring the JCW to be 2.25" I will just do the full turbo back when it comes time to tune up to the stage 3 level.

Rednecks on harleys and in trucks get away with it because most of them are on a first name basis with the cops or related.

As far as downpipes. Would the akrapovic 100 cell suffice or just go with a less expensive WMW Catless DP? Just curious. I don't want to have a lot of drone in the cabin if any. Just performance .

i have a riss racing catted ceramic DP and it is awesome with the stock JCW set up. sounds stock until you floor it. it also pops and bangs on every shift which i love. i have no problems with my RMW tune and it.

Cat less RR DP and stock JCW exhaust. No drone. I would not ditch the resonator. Stage 2 Alta tune cleaned up the sound nicely.

So it starts out 2.5 and then tapers down to 2ish. No wonder there wasn't a confirmed size ever posted. I didn't think to measure both ends of the resonator.

Peep these videos...

'09 JCW Clubbie with stock exhaust and Riss Racing ceramic coated/catless downpipe.

Any louder than that and it won't be fun anymore...

Really like your thinking here, don't see as much use of extrude honing, a true performance treatment that improves flow without sacrificing velocity.
