How to get these off?
That looks like wax residue that needs to be removed. You can try solvent and rub in one direction only, peanut butter, or Black Wow. Griots make a cleaner that is supposed to make it easy, but I wasn't impressed. Next time be very careful with the applicator or tape off the plastic areas. Many MINI owners have shared your pain at one time or another!

I have to try the Magic Eraser. I've tried using a lot of "chemicals" to remove the residue. The short-cuts don't seem to work all that well. I've found using a SOFT bristle tooth brush and using a combination of "stippling" the brush and rubbing in one direction works really well. It's just a little time consuming. I'm going to try and use the Magic Eraser the next time I end up getting wax on the trim.

Note that Pre-Wow was formulated to permanently remove wax and polish stains. You will find it gentle on your fingers as well as your paint and your nose! Products like Mothers Back to Black don't actually remove wax stains...they mask the problem until the dressing wears off. It's no different than applying water to the plastic which looks great, until the water evaporates. If you put an oil on it, the plastic will look new again and last longer before the wax "returns" because it takes longer for it to diminish. However the only permanent way to solve this is to remove the residue in the first place. Black Wow will keep future wax stains from "sticking" as it protects and makes foreign substances harder to adhere.
Pre-Wow can also be used as a shorter term dressing...it won't last nearly as long as Black Wow will, but there are techniques you can use to clean up an oxidized surface to make it uniform so that it appears new instead of splotchy and old.
Check out our FaceBook page for current ways of using Black Wow and Pre-Wow.

Example 1
Metal Table painted to look like wood. Customer waxed it per the manufacturers instructions and within months looked weathered and oxidized. He tried a number of chemicals and pressure washing and nothing worked.

A few minutes of rubbing with Pre-Wow, and it was solved.

We verified the results by doing a Dawn Wash....Pre-Wow can be removed using some dawn soap and rinsed with water.
Example 2
Foreign residue on a cargo mat

A couple of spritzes of Pre-Wow

In the end

Great! What were you disappointed by with the brush? The brush is intended for spot treatments, delicate enough not to harm the paint if accidentally brushed, but stiff enough to scrub the PW into textured trim.
I also use an electric toothbrush, painters rag, paint brushes, and a number of other tools to apply PW for different situations.
