Need Help on deciding in tires for wife's '07 R56

Time to take off the wife's 15" Blizzaks and get an set of all-seasons for our '07 Justa. Currently have 2 good OE Dunlops and 2 that have worn so we'll get 4 new tires.

Been reading reviews on TireRack for our size 175/65-15 and can't believe the best all-season reviews seen to be for the General Altimax HP.

Anybody have any experience with these?

195/60-15 is a bit wider but the same diameter. That size has a lot more choices usually at a lower price than the rarer 175/65-15 size.

I have driven it in our testing, and they are excellent. That's a "go to" tire for me. You can't beat it for the $

Just looking at the Tire Rack tests, I agree with Alex. But if you have a hang-up with the General HP's Grand Touring category, there's the High Performance All-Season Yoko AVID ENVigor, which is apparently a popular tire here at NAM. It does seem to give up some snow performance to the General HP, however.

I put a set of the General Altimax HPs in 195/60-15 on my 07 MC a couple of weeks ago. I've put about 500 miles on them and I think they are great. I had Yokohama Avid Envigors in 175/65-15 on previously. The Generals are quieter and grip better.

“The Altimax is a key component in our revitalization of the General Tire brand, and since its launch this past spring (2008), the tire has continually delivered a smooth, comfortable ride and long tread life.” -- Andreas Gerstenberger, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Continental Tire North America, Inc., General Tire’s parent company.

The 195/60 has a higher load rating and costs $5 less at TireRack.

BTW the 195/60-15 is 0.8" wider and 0.2" larger in diameter than the 175/65-15, so it is considered a +0 size tire. I think the additional width looks good on the car. I had to reset the TPMS, but didn't affect the speed indicator.

Thanks all. Looks like we'll be going with the Generals.
