Forget miniusa.com to get phone compatbility information. The list is dated and innacurate. I followed the direction of putting in last 7 vin characters and the list it gave me had "basic" phones from LG that you can't find at your Verizon store they are so old. But Verizon took a Revere model out to the car and paired it no problem. Seems you just have to decide if you want a basic phone or a smart phone, and then have the phone folks at your provider store help you out. The explanation I got was that some of the older phones are just not new enough BT technology to pair up to the car or for the car to be able to find the phone. I have a 2011 Countryman without NAV.

 

Any Bluetooth phone should work with the MINI foe cell calls.Bluetooth is a set standard.I think it happens to be a quality set up.
What is different is the syncing with some of the audio setup. If you want to play music from a mp3 file or interenet radio many phones do not work...and I have found the list to be not as accurate. I did call MINI and they seemed to have a more updated list. I have a Droid X phone and they told me the audio would not play..the phone worked fine on BT. The weird thing is sometimes if I reboot my phone and connect bluetooth I can play internet radio etc. I am ready to upgrade to a new phone but I will definately try the BT audio to see if it works. I have a 2012 with MiniConnect and bluetooth....
