How much of a drop?

So I want to lower my '11 MCS, but I don't want the damn thing slammed to the ground. Every spring kit I've found is more than an inch drop, and I don't think it'll look good with as wide a wheel setup as I have. I heard that OE JCW springs lower the car 10mm, which would probably be all that I want. But I'd like to get everyone's $.02 on their experiences with different springs as to how much they really drop the car versus what the manufacturers claim.

Pics for reference.

I have a set of NM's in the garage, just waiting for a calm Saturday or Sunday to install them. But they're 1.25 - 1.5 total.

I chose them over TSW's, also reviewed kindly, which are advertised on Way Motorworks site as 3/4 rear, 1" front drop, which I thought insufficient, but sounds like what you're after.

Nice looking MINI you have, as it sits.

Mine's still "too high".

I'm on Mach V's. They lower it quite a bit, essentially the coilover look without getting coilovers. The ride is harsh as sh*t, but I bought them knowing this. I just wanted my car low, and that's exactly what I got. Just giving you my $.02. You personally should stay away from Mach V's lol.

Sigpic will give you an idea of the stance.

The new Swifts are worth looking into.

Thanks, man.

So I have suggestions for TSW and Swift. Anyone else know of a less-than-one-inch drop spring kit? Besides OE JCW?

Kw coilovers... lowered about a little over an inch or to your liking, ride comfy and stiff.

Once you see an R56 in person with no wheel gap you won't want anything besides coilovers. You'll have a really nice tucked look with the lower offset wheels you have. Kill the gap son!

I have NM's they are great. They lower it just enough without slamming it to the ground.

I have TSW springs on my stock shocks, IE fixed plates. I am a little dissapointed that it does not sit lower, but the ride is better than the stock 'sport' suspension. After the bank account gets replenished, a set of Koni Yellows and lower springs for me, probably NM's. This year I will swap out to a set of 'normal' factory shocks to see the difference from the sport shocks. Buying stuff off of the market makes me feel better if they don't work out.

The main reason that I went with the TSW's is because I didn't have to buy new shocks.

Hope this helps.

Mike
