R60 Current wait times?
Current wait times?
Just ordered my car on Friday, and trying to get an idea of the most recent wait times? The dealer did mention something about them having to submit cars in batches, and because I ordered mine at the end of the month it would be submitted on Monday. Not sure if all dealers do it this way or not. I'm assuming it will be arriving at the port in Newark. This is going to be agonizing! I went through the same thing in 2003 when I ordered my original MC, so I'm familiar with what to expect.
Congratulations
What did you order?
Don't know how long your 2003 order took, but the CM is our second MINI as well and it went much quicker than the R53. We ordered the CM on 10/1/11, production completed on 11/11/11, and took delivery on 12/28/11. Two factors to consider is that we had to wait for bench seat production to start and the car had to travel all the way to to the West Coast.
No matter how long it takes, it will seem too long.

I even came up with a tentative name for my car already! Is that crazy? My last car was named Flea (after the bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers). I thought that was appropriate both because of the size of the car, and the CHILI RED color. For this one, I'm thinking Lady Madonna. I'm going with this because True Blue was a Madonna song, but I'm not a Madonna fan. I'm a huge Beatles fan, and my original band actually covers the song Lady Madonna by them, so I thought it kind of fit. A bit of a stretch, but I like it.
Congratulations

[QUOTE=MY4thMINI;3483346]My first order in 2002 took 8 weeks for delivery, partly waiting on the order just to get placed, and missing 2 ships at port. {snip} QUOTE]
Wow, We ordered the Pea on 8/15/05 and took delivery 2/24/06. That was more than 6 months! I was going totally nuts
Waiting 3 months for the CM was tough as well, but NAM is a good support group.

MCJoe, I have ordered a Mini Countryman two weeks ago and the dealer told me waiting time is 2.5 months.
I am based in Switzerland, which has a border with Austria so I guess we are not talking about the same delivery times but I just wanted to give you and idea.
Did your dealer mention any eta?
On a side note did any one herd of a method to track your CM outside if you are not in the US?

Without a production slot you are just ordering and hoping. When ordering make sure the dealer has a production slot - the dealer should give you a production week at the time you order and get a production number. Within 48-72 hours the owner's lounge should reflect your car build and just before the production week you should see a VIN number.
If your dealer cannot give you a production week you are on the hit and hope list.

It seems the owners lounge is about a week (half week if you're lucky) behind. Your MA is probably your best source of info. I think 3 months is a good (safe) guess. But it really depends on your location. Say for example myself, from the time it gets on the boat it has 27 days to get to California and then another 7 to 14 days to make it to Colorado. So, being closer to port, will improve on your time. Long story longer, location, production week, taking a dealer slot and most of all luck are all variables that will effect your wait time.
My timeframe is in my signature. It's been quite a wait. It was 4 weeks before production even STARTED - then a few more with shipping etc. I'll be at nine weeks by the time I get it *if* I get it this week (so maybe even longer).
I took a slot my dealer had reserved too. No way around the wait.

Yep! Beau makes a good point, no way around the waiting...but as you probably experience from your last order...the tracking and being on this board make the waiting a little less painful and *almost* fun....almost.
Oh and I forgot to congrat you in my last post! Congrats!
