Bluetooth question

I have a 2012 convertible S and was just at the dealer trying to get it synced (sp?) up. He could get his phone numbers to load (iphone) but not mine (Motorola Photon (Android)). He said there is sometimes a file that needs to me loaded on the phone to allow this to happen, but of course I am clueless...any bluetooth gurus out there who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

No bluetooth guru here but try posting in the navigation & audio section several smart people in there for these issues. Good luck

Pairing phone difficulty

Two things come to my mind. First, make sure your phone is in "discoverable" mode before trying to sync (aka pair) the phone to the car. This discoverable mode usually lasts for 120 seconds. It is the safety mode so people walking by you can't listen to your conversations or clone you phone as you walk near them.
If that doesn't work, take the battery out of your phone and leave it out for about 45 to 60 seconds. This is almost like defragging a computer. Put the battery back in and then try pairing the phone to the car again. When the phone is looking for the car it will read "searching". When the car is looking for the phone there will be 3 small dots sequentially appearing in the top line of your radio screen.
Good luck.

Thanks - he got the phone to pair up but could not load my phonebook - that's where he said sometimes the phones are missing a file that allows that to happen - way out of my depth here!

And I will move this post to the nav/audio section - makes more sense there

Again, many thanks for the assistance

MINI compatible phones are listed here. http://www.miniusa.com/bluetooth/

Just cuz it is a BT phone doesn't mean it works in a MINI.

As others have said there is a lot more info over on in the NAv and Audio Section where this thread really should be as this is common to ALL second gen MINI's not just the vert. The ONLY reason I saw this thread is because I just happend to come and look at the threads in the vert section for the fun of it. I dont usually come here but lucky for you I did.

But one thing to not here is that it can take a "LONG LONG" time to transfer a phone book if there is a lot of contacts in it. I have seen it take as much as three hours. I have also noticed on one LG phone that it took making a call out thru the cars display via typing in a number to call to get the process started. But that was not an Android phone either. As for the Android they are about the most easy to get connected and transfer the phone book.

As for the MINI Tech saying there is a file on the phone missing - Totally WRONG. But that is not to say that it definitely will transfer the phone book. It all depends on the Cell phone manufacturer as to how they implemented phone book transfer not a single file.

So to the OP take a nice drive and let the phone be paired with the car and see if it takes a while.

If you have any other problems please feel free to ask.

This list from MINI is so outdated it is not funny.

A best to look is in the Nav & Audio section at this thread. It is from real world testing and use. Check the first post for a link to a spreadsheet that is 1000's of times better than the MINI list.
