The Indiana Mini Club is hosting a car corral at the Grand Prix of Amercia at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The corral is open to any Mini owner, not just members of their club. You have to request a pass to the corrall from the speedway when you buy tickets (min. 2). The Indy club is also working on plans to host an event the night before the race. Race day is Sunday June 20th. I'm planning on making the drive to the brickyard...anyone else interested???

Yes - I think the CMMC should be there in force.

That sounds AMAZING! Even though that is a long way a way I still would love to make it. Thanks for letting us know!

I looked at tickets online and there was no option for the corrall...... If I phone and ask will they have any clue what I am talking about?

Does this mean I will have somewhere cool to park my MINI during qualifying and race day?

Could you please post some more details, if they are available.

When you order your tickets, put a request for the MINI Car Corral in the notes section. If there is space available, they will get you a parking pass for the corral.

I think that last year, they all met somewhere at 8am and then had a police escort lead them to the track.

My Dad are going in my MCS and have requested corral parking. When I get my tickets, I will post here with an update.

Okay I'm about to buy USGP tickets. Anyone have any insight into where are the best places on the track?

The end of the main straight is the best overtaking spot. That means stands H and J. H sold out in the last two weeks. J wont be long behind. I have not got tickets yet. I was hoping to hear about the Corral.

Its cool to be there before race day and view the cars from several different parts of the track. Practice is good near the pits.... The start of the main straight is right in front of the Ferrari pits. That is a cool place to spend a little while. Its pretty loud in that covered stand though.

I'll be driving up to the race this year and have requested my car corral pass. I also understand that you can participate in a parade of sorts from downtown Indy the morning of the race where you get an escort into the parking area.

Dr. Markie - the car corral is located on the back straight (the actual racing surface) of the oval just to the northeast of the museum.

The idea for a party the night before the race sounds fantastic - please post more details as they come up - and if there's anything the rest of us can do to help.

P.S. - you will also have the opportunity to drive the GP circuit in your MINI on the Monday after the race (I believe the session will be from 4-8p.m. provided you renewed your tickets to the 2005 USGP)

Last year's parking was supposed to be near the back straight on the grass (near crossing bridge). After wet weather, they moved it to the oval surface.

A buddy of mine has been trying to convince me to go for years and I finally committed to going down to see the race. I’ll have tickets from a relative of his so I won’t be able to request the corral, but I’m definitely interested in a group drive from Chicago (we'll head down Friday night) as well as any events before the race.

I plan on attending again this year. I drove the MINI last year and had a pass to the car corral. It was very cool to park on the backstretch pavement. I believe the plan was to have the car corrals on the grass by the infield lake on the golf course grounds, but it was too wet. You can drive in at anytime, or do the group meet an escort in early in the am. There are sections for all sorts of sports cars and it's fun just to see all of them there.

Just got my tickets to the race and the corral today. When is everyone from Chicago going down? Perhaps we should arrange a caravan of sorts.

HOLY CR4P!!!

I just found this thread!! I got my tickets about a week ago, and I'm going to try and call to get in the corral. Just tell me what I have to do to drive my car on the track and I'll do it. Friends of mine and I have been going to the USGP for about 3 years now since we all got out of college. I live in Chicago northside, and am definitely down for a Mini train down 65S to the race. I'll probably be going Thrusday/Friday.

Keep this thread alive!!!

Where can we get more information about these two events inparticular?

There is a post on NAM with some of the details. It is in the national events area.

I'll be in Chicago on Friday and will be heading down to Indianapolis for the Friday night cruise. A group drive down sounds great - any more info as to where and when everyone will meet to head south?

Is it too late to get in on this? Is there a web site to do this online?
