What's wrong with any of the existing roof racks?
Don't forget aerodynamics on your design.
I have to eaton this. Sounds interesting.

rack for mother in law will be easy. auto (speed dependent) or manual release ejection seat mounted on the rack is fine. but seriously speaking if you see other attachment from a different car post a pic and see what the community thinks. i myself would prefer a trail hitch attachment (modular) type.

let me find the business card, i think it's still in my car from last year's Mini in the Mountains. There was a guy that was up there with a lifted countryman that does custom roof racks. He did a safari style on his countryman with some large spots on it, looked pretty bad ***.

can you make one that can pull an RV? i was thinking of a stable bike rack and then it can be converted to carry skis, snowboards, and maybe gopeds? i can't thinked of anything new besides from the racks that are already existing. how far is chino hills from san diego? never mind its about 118 miles away. from time to time i go to los angeles maybe i can swing by when you are going to fabricate anything for mini cooper. obtw where are you going with this whole thing? are you soliciting for ideas and then fabricate for sale?
