In our 2009 MCS the OEM Y cable will play an Ipod 4th generation. But when we plug in an iPhone 4 the USB interface on the radio just states "error". We don't have the nav, so this is just using the USB/Aux input in under the center of the dash in front of the cup holders.

This is a used car, is it possible the radio software needs an update to support the iPhone running IOS5?

 

Yes, you need an update to the radio software.

It should work OK after that. A mini dealer should still do the update considering it is a 2009.
