Exhaust decisions

I had my eye on the NM DP back system, but I haven't come across any posts about performance gains. So I started researching other systems and was looking at the Miltek systems on WMW's site. It apparently claims a 35hp increase on a stock car.
Any R56 owners using the Miltek turbo back system? Or even just the Miltek DP with a different system and can verify the claimed increase in performance W/O having a tune.

They are smoking crack.

NO exhaust will give you anywhere near 35Hp... Maybe 10. Maybe.

Milltek actually claims 27 with there down pipe and catback system. While this number does seem inflated numbers like this can actually be had with removing and replacing cats. It's common knowledge that exhausts don't make much of anything but noise, however high flow cats can make power.... mabye not 27, but it's not out of the question.

Well gents, here's the link, page 6, "On the Dyno", if it doesn't go right to it.

http://www.millteksport.com/images/press/28.pdf

It was 27hp, my mistake, but still, that's a significant increase claim from the dyno run.

I have the Akrapovic downpipe. If i were you and looking for power, consider it. Pricey, but sounds great with my fJCW dp back exhaust. And runs very smoothly with a tune.

Yea, that Ak dp looks great and makes great power, but there's NOBODY here that specializes in tuning cars, and if the CEL can't be cleared by the dealer tech, then I don't want it. The Miltek DP doesn't throw a CEL, so i may go for that one. I can't consider these DPs expensive. I checked the price of an OEM DP, 1600 bucks!!! So, either of these is a nice price considering a replacment if u needed it.

if highflow cats are good are no cats better? no really sure where the cats even are on the MCS but are there products which replace the cat/cats with a straight pipe? if so does it sounds extremely loud like on a naturally aspirated motor?

I'd bet with good certainty that the Milltek will still through a code...maybe not right away, but almost certain at some point.

No cats are the best bet...

1 cat is in the downpipe, and 1 seconday cat just after where the exhaust mats up to the downpipe. Most catbacks will get rid of the 2nd cat. Any catless downpipe will eliminate the main cat. It's not extremely loud, the turbo muffles the exhaust a ton...
