R56 Just installed: Akrapovic, BBS, KW coilovers
Just installed: Akrapovic, BBS, KW coilovers
Did all these today in 1 sitting as I am too lazy to go back and forth to the shop.
First impression: car is noticeably louder, but not obnoxious. Power pick-up in the midrange is much better, but seems to be a bit droopy (is that even a word?) in the lower range. The Akrapovic turbo back pipes are also made of titanium and much much lighter than stock. I opted for the carbon tips.
The KW coilovers are amazing, and now the Mini is much more alive zipping around town and slower buses/trucks. I also had it on the 3rd softest setting and now at least the runcraps that are on the car are not as punishing on the back and on my jawbones! I lowered the car an inch or so to minimize wheel gap.
The BBS are 17 inchers and much lighter than stock and you can feel it in the steering, as the car feels more nimble now. I reused the runcraps on the BBS since the car is still brand new and so are the tires...

I did not go with the CF tips because I have the JCW CF diffuser on my rear bumper. I thought the 2 different weaves of CF would clash. I deinitly like the CF tip better but both look great whether in CF or Titanium.
Here is my post with pics of the Titanium tips on the Factory JCW sub forum:

I am still waiting for my Forge FMIC and my NM Engineering intercooler pipes to arrive so I can install them. Then I will send my ECU to the guys over at evolve-r for a tune.
So far so good.
You are right about the sound of the akra, which is practically non-existent. It sounds almost stock, just a bit deeper with more bass. But the akrapovic is not about sound, but about lightness and pure performance. Without a tune, I should expect about 8hp increase. With a tune, then it gets interesting.
I am in the process of dechroming the car using 3M Dinoc at the moment. Will post photos when it's done. Liking it so far!!!
By the way, the stripes are a tribute to the old-school Martini Porsche race cars. But again, this is not the first mini with these stripes. Some guy called Rob in the UK has done it to his mini many years ago and I found his pictures online and loved loved loved the stripes and just had to do it on mine. Glad I made the right choice!!!
Here's a small preview of the dechrome process. When it's done all the chrome molding on the car including all the door handles, etc, will be dinoc'ed.

I am using the 3M Dinoc carbonfiber look wrap. Very sticky stuff and better ask the professional wrapper to do the job, but it looks great. Coilovers are by KW.
My Mini Madness intake, Forge FMIC and the NM Engineering pipes are all on the way, along with some error-free LED bulbs for the license plate and fogs....

Your car looks great BTW. Please post some videos if you can, I am sure it sounds nice.
I bought the bulbs off ebay. Just look for the error-free ones. With these LED stuff, it's a trial and error thing. On my maserati I had to buy 3 different brands just to finally get a set without the error code lighting up.
