Anyone facing any premature wear & tear issues?

Hi, fellow MINI-sters!

I'm from Singapore, and am having a MINI R56 One (LCi).
I'd like to ask if anyone of you guys are experiencing any premature wear & tear issues on your MINI's?

I've clocked only about 16K miles (14months), and I've had a few parts replaced (gearbox, ECU, aircon compressor, chain tensioner, friction wheel & water pump) since. Just this morning only, I had to check in Mario for an engine mount replacement @ the dealership.

The explanation I was given by the technical guys @ the dealership, is that because I'm having a MINI One, and not the Cooper nor Cooper S model, hence it's 'inferior' part(s) quality. This is totally BS, right?

I love motoring with my MINI, but @ the rate things are going, I shudder @ the thought of facing these issues when my warranty expires @ 56K miles (or 3yrs, whichever comes first).

I have no idea about the One. I would assume it would have been built the same but with less of a tune because it has less power. Hmmmmm....

Based on my understanding, the One & Cooper are having the same engines, just that the latter is 120bhp, while the One is being de-tuned to 98bhp. Other than that, would be just the aesthetics differences for both exterior & interior.

To cite a couple of issues that have YET to be resolved due to the One's manufacturing type;

1) My brake pedal makes this irritable 'tuck' sound whenever I depress & release it. I can also feel some sort of mechanical 'thud' or movement-related sound when the brake pedal is @ the halfway mark.

Reason given by the technician: Because the MINI One uses a different brake pedal mechanism & the way it's constructed, this is something that I have to contend & live with.

2) Whenever the aircon compressor is activated, some relay within my dash (driver side) would emit a 'TICK' sound, and sometimes accompanied by a mechanical jerking motion too. This happens especially if I'm on the road for @ least 30mins.

Reason given by the technician: The MINI One uses a different aircon compressor compared with the Cooper & Cooper S, hence it's a "normal" activity based on what I'd observe.

Can someone please tell me if they're trying to BS me with these reasons/analogy, as I feel that whatever problems I'm relaying to them, am simply just chided aside with the common reason "Because it's a MINI One, hence.... etc"

Try mini2.com they are European and deal with the MINI One more then us. We only have the Cooper, Cooper S, and JCW. They deemed the One would be under powered for the America market.

Entire clutch assembly replaced at 28,500 miles under warranty.
Valve cover gasket replaced at 31,000 miles under warranty.

Never had these early failures with VW, Honda, Toyota or BMW.

The brake pedal in my 2012 Cooper does make a very minor "click" right near the top of travel. It feels like free play before the pedal mechanism starts compressing the piston in the brake master cylinder. It might not be that, but that's what it feels like to me.

That sounds different from 7876's problem, though. I wonder if it could be related?

That click at the top of travel is your brake light switch.
