Will the Hoosier A6 225-45-17 fit my 2006 R53 Mini JCW without any rubbing?

Hi everybody,

I would like to go in the DS class the next season with my 2006 R53 Mini JCW "COMPETITION EDITION"(Canadian car)
But before purchasing the tires and wheels I need to be sure about the size of the tires.
I am looking to buy 4 Motegi Racing SP10 in 17''x7'' with an offset of 40mm and fit Hoosier A6 in 225-45-17 on it.
Is it right?
Is there somebody that run these dimensions?
Is it possible to run 245 at the front?

I'm waiting for your response,
Thank you very much,

I'm running stock JCW suspension with 225x45x17 SP2 Bridgstone on 17x7 Team dynamics with an off set of 42. I also have adjustable rear control arms set at 2 degrees neg camber. I have no problems at all no or off the track. Hope this helps.

I don't know, but note that Hoosiers run a little wider in both section and tread width than high performance street tires of the same size. For example, the 225/45/17 A6 is .8" wider in section and .5" wider in tread than the same size Bridgestone RE-11.

The HS MC that won SCCA Solo Nationals last year was shod with 225/45/15 Hoosiers in front (on 15X5.5" wheels yet), so 225/45/17s could probably be made to work as well.

Wheel offsets are wrong, to be legal you need to be within 1/4" of stock wheel specs....so within 6mm of offset. Stock offset is +48 so a +40 wheel will not be legal.

I just bought the Enkei RPF1 with a +43mm offset, 17x7 and 14.6lbs

225/40/17 seems to be the standard A6 size people are using without any issues, although I have heard of some people trying 245/40/17 and fitting but I cant speak to that nor confirm any fitment

I lied. I'm running Hankook's not Bridgestones. I have 2 sets and the tread wide mounted on the wheel is 8.5 My off set is 42 so thats within the 6mm.

thank you guys for your answer! I apreciated!
So I have to correct myself the good size for the Hoosier are the 245-40-17.
But, my friend who has the same car and who is engineer (always listen an engineer ) guarantees me that the offset is +45 on my R98 wheels.

So that meens that I can buy a wheel which has an offset of +39.
I will not do that because of the clearance issue at the rear with the fender flare.
I will propably buy a set of KOSEI K1 TS with an offset of +42 in order to be safe.
I like the Enkei RPF1 but it's more expensive.

So finally "pgrmstr" was right, there is only 17 inches stock wheels available with an offset of +48.
So I'm gonna buy the KOSEI K1 TS or the Enkei RPF1.

The Kosei is a great wheel choice for stock autocross. They will replace my Slipstreams if I ever make the switch to a 17" wheel/tire package.

Report back re: fit on those 245s. 225/40 R17 is the common size

Am I wrong or are adjustable control arms not legal in stock class?

On the questions of tire size, I tried the 245's. They rub under full lock, but not too bad. I found that the 225 is the better tire overall in my opinion.

You are NOT wrong. That's an STX level mod, and in that class there is some fine print on control arms that should be read...

I just happened to be looking at some Traklites but they're 17x8 - I'm coming from autocrossing a wrx in STX and didn't immediately realize these wouldn't work in DS since they're 8" wide. Is 7" width the max allowable for stock class? Could still be good for STX, but then can't run the r-comps they come with... maybe DSP until they're burnt up...

I was originally wondering if anyone would have input on these rubbing, but it's unlikely I'd go for them now anyways.

You're correct. A 17" wheel needs to be 7" in width to be legal in DS.

The general rule is that any wheel option that one could have ordered installed in the build at the factory for the car would be stock class legal. Any aftermarket wheel of the same diameter and width as the OEM wheel would also be legal, assuming the offset is no more than +/- .25" different from the OEM wheel.

For example, the Justa could run HS on either 15X5.5" wheels or 16X6.5" wheels, and the MCS could run DS on either 16X6.5" or 17X7" wheels.
