Want to get a nice retro looking wheel to replace my oem 17s. (Suggestions)
I am replacing my wheels in the spring and was looking for some suggestions on wheels that will look great on my R53. My car is hyper blue w/with white roof and stripes. I want to get a wheel that looks somewhat retro. I was looking into the 17 inch XXR 521 wheel with black w/ machined lip. Would like any thoughts on if this wheel will contrast good with my white roof and stripes or if anyone had any other suggestions for a nice 17 inch wheel.
Not really sure what you consider a retro wheel. I think retro and I see something like this:

the wheel you showed in my mind is more of a race style wheel. could look fine on your car. have any pictures of your car?

I don't have a picture handy and its too dark outside right now to get a decent pic, but I did find an r53 on the forum that looks just like mine minus the union jack mirror covers and web spoke wheels. In regards to what I'm looking for I really just want a nice wheel that doesn't have a lot going on with it. Basically a nice simple design like xxr 521 or even the rota rb wheel.

Based on looks alone, there are only two choices for me in a retro wheel for this car:
A Minilite style wheel such as the Rota RB with either a silver or white center.
Or
The steelies that people use for winter, but painted silver, with chrome lug caps, and chrome center caps. They are available in 16", and are as cheap and light as any decent set of used factory wheels (maybe not as light as Imolas, but close). If I ever deviate from my factory issue Daytonas (currently have two sets - one for snows), that is the route I will go.
As with Creeve, I may have a different definition of what is "Retro."
