So has anyone bought/considered aftermartket wheels for their Coupe

I'm in the market for some but with the myriad of wheels out there the choices are tough. I ordered my Coupe with challenge spokes and while I like them I'd like to find something with less weight.....and black!

Have any of you folks bought other than OEM wheels?

I need another set of wheels for my Coupe as well. I and considering 2 choices at this point.

The Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1.2 wheels here

http://www.fastmini.net/tedypr12.html

and the less expensive Motegi Racing SP10 here

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...r=&qty_front=4

Still not sure which ones I will get.

I'm keeping the stock wheels for winter use and the all season rubber. Anyone else have any ideas. Wheels for the JCW are limited. That's been my bigger problem.

Pat
I am running the SP 10's right now nice and light, But the TC's are sweet, I thought I had seen a black and red version. I like the 45 ET on the TD's better then the 40 on the Motegis

Pat look for PRO RACE 1.2S, OutMotoring has them http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...inted-lip.html

There is also this http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...ll&sort=Weight

Hmm, I have a set on order of the TD 1.2's for my crx in bronze, which isn't listed on Fast Mini's site, for some reason. So if anyone's looking at them, there is another color option as well.

Those are great choices Pat! I've been looking at the Team Dynamics as well.

I like the OZ wheels a lot. Particularly the Ultraleggera and Superturismo's. The Leggenda's are nice as well but I think a bit too "WRC" for a Coupe. The other wheel I like the looks of are the Breyton GTS-R's. In fact they look very similar to the Challenge spokes with a bit more detail to them.

OZ has a spot on their site where you can upload a picture of your car and try different wheels on it that works pretty well. While TIRERACK has a similar option it only allows you to view pre-made cars and a Coupe isn't one of them.

Like Pat said I plan to keep my Challenge spokes for winter and use something lighter from the aftermarket for the nice part of the year.

It appears that the Breyton GTS-R are only available in 18 inch wheels so that knocks them out of the competition for me. Plus the fact that they are $279.00 each!! A little too pricey for my liking. That's the challenge I am having now. I want to get decent wheels for the summer driving but I also want to exercise some common sense in the amount of money spent. I don't race or anything so I'm not sure that spending more is necessarily going to give me a return. Gee if I were rich it wouldn't be an issue.
DOH

Pat the SP 10's drop almost 7 lbs per corner, you can feel the differance in unsprung weight.

Yes. those factory's are right at 23 lbs and both the SP's and TD's are in the 16 lb range. You can feel the 0 to 60 difference.

I'm just going to put the stock summer run flat tread on them until I wear them out. I took them off when I first got the car. They've been sitting in the garage since delivery. I have Conti DWS all season non run flat tires on the stock wheels right now. This is my winter set up. Once I wear out the stock tires I will probably go with a Conti summer tread non run flat of some type. Not sure yet.

I bet they are. I don't think it will take long to wear the summer run flats out of tread. I'll start my search once I get close to the end. I like the Conti tires and have had very good long term wear on the Conti all season. (Even the run flats so I would imagine the non run flats will run even longer.)

Have 18" sp 10s and they are pretty sweet. I do regret going the 18" route and switched to 17's (see signature ) The Motegis are super light and a really nice design. My gallery has a pic with them mounted up.

I like the Continentals that came on my Coupe.

I don't do aftermarket parts, but I still want the original JCW wheels (R95 JCW Star Spoke) for my Coupe. I think the look is perfect with the Coupe.

Those do fit well. I didn't even know the existed or I somehow overlooked them.

I had forgot I crossed the Breytons off my short list since they are 18"ers. I do love the looks though. I'm sticking with 17" as I'm familiar with the ride and handling and I want to avoid having to deal with turn stops, spacers, etc. Not that that's necessary with every offering but I like the follow the simple approach when possible.

I still have the 17" Black Star Bullets and I do like them. The JCW wheels are 18", though. I don't know the weight for them. It's not clear whether they will fit over the current JCW brakes.

I just bought the Motegi SP 10 for my Coupe. They fit fine. I plan to use them in the winter and the stock wheels in the summer.

I put the Conti DWS all season non run flat on the Montegi wheels. I'm using the stock Conti summer tread on the stock wheels. The Montegi wheels were a cost conscious buy. If I were going to spend the big bucks I would have bought the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2. I almost pulled the trigger on those but some other issues came up that forced the lessor expensive wheel to be purchased. LOL The Montegi wheels are lighter than the factory wheels (as you stated.) but I like the look of the factory wheels a lot more thus my reason for running them in the summer.

Man I could dump money on this car hand over fist but there are other things that I need to accomplish as well. I think I have enough money in this thing. It's a fun car and all that but where do you stop?

Anyway I'm all set now. I have the summer wheels on now and when winter comes I'll just switch over to the All Seasons and the Montegi's. My wife and I can change em in the garage. (she had the same set up but with different wheels for her car.) We'll clean up the ones coming off and wax em all nice and pretty for the next season. I don't have a pickup or anything like that, I'm down to Mini and GTO power only. So getting all the wheels and tires back and forth from the tire shop was a sight for sore eyes and took a few trips.

But we got both Mini's working and it didn't take long and luckily Discount Tire is close.

Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
