Took my car to Florida for Christmas, It ozzed wax

Greetings all,

I know this has been covered before, but I cannot recall what it is called, so I am not sure what to search for.

Took my 2012 MCS'Vert to Florida for Christmas (Via the AutoTrain). While I was there it was HOT and now under the Scuddle plates, that waxy stuff leaked out from under the hood and on to the black plastic.

What is it, and how do I get it off?

THANKS!

It's called cosmoline. If you search for that term, you'll find some products specifically designed to remove it. It's a paint and body protector that finds its way into every crevice in our cars.

I use gasoline on a paper towel to remove it from the body and plastic fenders. Then clean with soap and water.

+1 for CosmoNot and all the Prima care products. Since you're still under warranty you can also just take it to the dealer and have them deal with it (if you trust them). I'm on my third set of arches in 2 years.

do not use CosmoNot on the wheel arches, it will ruin them.

Bother used it on his 2011 clubman S, thankfully the dealership still replaced them under warranty.

+1 DO NOT use CosmoNot on Wheel arches. Black Wow does a pretty good job of hiding the Cosmoline Pee Track but not sure theres any way to totally remove it. Me, I'm not going to worry about it. I've yet to see a Mini that did'nt have the Pee Track on the wheel arch so what the heck.....

Thank you guys, I will take it to the dealer, it has to go in for a squeak in the dash somewhere behind the speedo.

Where are you usually that you consider 85F hot? I was down in Florida too for Christmas enjoying the nice warm weather, but my Mini stayed at home. Too much kiddo stuff to drive down there with the family in the Mini. It was rainy and in the 40s here in Dallas so I was welcoming the 85F and sun. However, for us, hot is 114F like we hit this last summer.

Hope you enjoyed your stay. How was your experience with the auto train? I've never been in the situation where I was both in a location and traveling to a location that the auto train serviced. Seems like the way to go if it works out for you though.

Hey Gixxer, I am from Tampa, and no I do not think that 85 is hot, it is just the first time my MINI has been in 85 . My top was down the whole time (that is mainly why I took it)

The Autotrain was not bad at all. They drove my car up the ramp and 17 hours and 900 miles later, it was driven back to me in the same shape.

I am luck, I live in DC now, and my folks still north of Tampa, so the autotrain is almost PERFECT.
