Warranty on a new/used 08 MCC

Hey guys I have a question(s) about the Mini/Aftermarket warranty and maintenance.

I just bought an 2008 Cooper Clubman from a non-Mini dealer the other day and I bought a extended warranty through them (they use EasyCare/3 year/36,000 mile warranty) and I also noticed that the Carfax for the vehicle said the car had another 8 months/1,348 miles left on the original Mini warranty.

My question is:

1. Can I still use the Mini Warranty until it ends or does the EasyCare warranty void it out?

2. What does the Mini Warranty cover? I couldn't find anything on the website about it.

3. Also, what is the price at a Mini Dealer for basic things like oil changes and stuff like that or could I go to a independent place (VIOC, Pep Boys, ect..) to get that stuff done? I know I could just change that kind of stuff myself, but sometimes I'm lazy, lol.

Thanks guys! This forum is awesome and really helpful, I love my Mini!

You can still use your MINI Warranty. Carefully read your contract for the EasyCare as well. It is likely possible that you might be able to postpone your EasyCare warranty until after the manufacturers warranty expires. Just a thought that might get you a few miles and time (though your mileage is pretty much done).

Pretty much everything except wearable parts which they cover under the MINI Maintenance Program which is only for the first 3 years / 36k miles. So you will probably have maintenance to pay by yourself.

Ask your MINI Dealer. I'm sure they'd have the best answer for you. I use a local BMW Shop (small place) that does my work. I wouldn't take it to a place that may not have seen a MINI as its a bit more than just pulling the plug, pretty sure some reservoir comes out or something like that. Never done it since my local guy is soooo cheap.

Hope that helps!
