Hello I just purchased a 2006 mini one week ago with 37K mi. I pulled the door seals up and discovered rust starting to develope on the lower door sills. I spent the day grinding the rust out. I applied Ospho to stop the rust and will repaint next weekend. Is this a common problem with these cars just a heads up?

 

I believe that MINI has a 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty on rust. Call your

nearest dealer and see what they say.

That TSB came out after I discovered my rust. The dealer refused to fix it. So I fixed it myself with Rust Bullet.

 

Thank you for the information "the long threads" the rust is gone. I will just keep an eye on the sills and keep them dry that should solve the problem. I was lucky the rust just started, it was an easy fix.
