R56 1st stone chip on hood :(
1st stone chip on hood :(
Well, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. but today, on my 15th day of ownership, I noticed a stone chip on my hood
. I know it will be the first of many, but oh well. Guess it's time to pick up some touch up paint.

Well, my hood now has like 12 stone chips
and I have 9 months with my Mini.
I'm sorry to tell you that the touch up paint doesn't work at all, you will need to repaint the hood if you want to disappear the stone chips

I got a stone chip on the hood in my first week of ownership. I touched it up and had a Clear Bra installed. All was well until a couple of months ago, I caught a BIG rock from a truck that was really pretty far ahead of me. The whole car rang with the impact! It made a very small dent in the hood right next to the MINI emblem and it tore a hole on the Clear Bra! The Clear Bra works well, but it does have it's limits.

I feel your pain. I'm a detailing **** and the first years worth of teeny chips on the bonnet were torture! I have a black MINI so it's even more prevalent since the primer is white
Tackle what you can with touch up paint, but more importantly just get used to the fact you can't avoid them if you plan on driving the car and not making it a garage queen.

Driving 120 miles a day for 6 months in my countryman certainly made me cringe one chip after another. I was going to refinish the hood until I hit a deer, which turned out for the best
- not the deer though :(

Try Dr.ColorChip custom automotive touch-up paint. I've used it on my X5 (black metallic), the X5 that replaced that (silver) and my 330ci (dark silver) which was replaced by the MCS (pepper White). Although I've yet to need it on the Mini, it worked great on my BMWs and I'm pretty **** about this stuff.
