Cost of 30000 mile service

I have an 08 MC just about to turn to 30000 miles; the service indicator (car on the rack) just came on. How much can I expect to pay for this service?

Are you beyond the three years on the maintenance agreement? If so, you might want to consider taking it to an independent MINI garage. And if you're handy, you can do some of the times yourself and save some $$...changing air and cabin filters is simple, for example.

Yes beyond the 3 years. An independent mini service shop quoted $340. But no need to rotate tires as they are new.

The answer to your question is dependant on the answer to this. How long do you want to own this car?

If it were me,aand I plan to own this car for a long time, (which I do), here's what I'm going to do.

Engine oil and filter every 7.5K miles, with a sample sent to Blackstone labs.
Brake fluid every two years, or before any high speed drivers event.
Coolant every 2 years
power steering fluid every 2 years
Transmission fluid every 30K miles
Cabin filter every 2 years.
Inspect everything anytime I have the car on the lift. (yes, I've got a lift in my garage...lol)

YMMV.

Related question...can we reset the maintenance reminders ourselves? I have not read the owners manual so please forgive me if the answer is in the manual. Thanks

Yes there is a procedure for it. It is somewhere on the forums. Its pretty easy. Also I change my in cabin once a year just because it gets pretty crappy that amount of time. But all that was stated above is pretty easy and you can do yourself.

Good luck on changing that power steering fluid.

Don't forget the engine air filter. Every other oil change is the specification.

Also, Spark plugs are recommended at 100k miles. I changed mine at 50k. They did have a little wear on them.

That's what I was just thinking.

Why. Is it that hard to change the power steering fluid?

Right along the lines of all those V6 BMWs on the roads.

Okay, I'll stop now...

We don't have a hydraulic PS system so there is no fluid. one less thing to change!

Ok how about the original post. Cost of 30k service? Any input for comparison?

Thank you.

Sorry, most have not paid for this service since they are usually within the factory 3 year/36,000 maintenance coverage. You'll have to ring your dealer or mechanic.

Ok thought I would update my post. Ended up taking my MC a local Euro shop for service. The 30,000 mile service cost $246 which included oil change, air filter, and cabin filter. The checked it over and found that oil pan gasket was leaking. Extended warranty advises they would cover, but I have to take it to the dealer (BMW) where I bought the MC. Euro shop advised to just wait until the next oil change to change the oil pan gasket.

Any thoughts on waiting to change the oil pan gasket are welcomed.

Results of service

To follow up on my original post. The 30000 mile service for my 08 MC cost $240 which included oil change, air filter and cabin filter. A Euro Performance shop performed the service. However inspection found that my oil pan gasket is leaking. Unfortunately my extended warranty would not allow them to perform that work. Taking to the BMW dealer (where MC & Ext Warranty was purchased) next week.

I took my 07 MC in for an oil change at 30k and the only thing the dealer recommended was a brake fluid flush and replace the cabin filter. I declined the cabin filter because I can do that easy enough. Oil change was $70 and the brake flush was $120.

The lift was about $2000, concrete prep, 3'x3'x 1.5' with rebar and 4K pis concrete, and installation was another $1200. Best money I've ever spent. Never having to use jack stands? Priceless.

The only issue is I really didn't have the height for a full size clear floor plate lift. I had to get a lift with a floor plate, but you can work around that. (I had 11'8" and needed about 12'2")
