Since it's for a CountryMan, shouldn't you be looking for a bro?

yea, a bra for a countryman sounds wrong, lets call it a removable chip/dent protector for this car

The old type bras moisture gets underneath and destroys your paint! I have had one on my pickup since 2004 and still looks great!

over time the clear bra is also bad for the paint. i prefer a standard bra that i can put on and take off, so i can wax the front of the car. the clear bra is a pain to install, expensive, and will not allow the front of the car to be waxed. once rocks/ect. hit it, you just have to deal with it until it is removed. im guessing nobody has found one since im only getting comments/opinions.

Comment: They both have pros and cons.
Comment: The market has spoken and prefers the clear version. Actually this is a fact more so than a comment.
Opinion: Due to fact above, you will likely not find the old style for newer vehicles such as the CM.
Opinion: If you can't find it on eBay, it probably does not exist.
Comment: I'm not looking for one, but if I really wanted to find one that's where I would search.

Comment: I wish you good luck with your search and hope you find what you seek.

i guess if i sold bras for cars i would rather mark up a simple product like a huge clear sticker, and charge another bundle to install it. make perfect business sense to me i have seen standard bras for many new cars even mini's "check mini mania". they even have some with a carbon fiber look for most all mini models. just not the countryman.

I have a clear 3M bra on my 02 cooper, installed when I purchased it new in July 02....That original "sticker" was on there until just last summer when hail damage required replacing the bonnet and they put a new bra on. I never saw a single issue with the paint, I waxed the bra along with the rest of the car and it was almost as difficult to detect as the day it was installed. Within the first year that it was on the car I found a large nick in it from a stone or something...It didn't go through but it was significant enough for me to contemplate how much of a chunk it would have taken out of the paint had the bra not been there. My 12 CM is due to be delivered within the next 2 weeks and I will get the clear bra installed ASAP!

FWIW...

I would have to disagree and I actually have had both types of bras (using another forum as a source?). The old style bra I had on my 96 Jetta ruined my paint, made it hazy and I was religious about taking it off when it got wet. I was on a business trip and the sprinklers at the hotel came on in the middle of the night and got it wet. When I came out in the morning around 8am it was already too late and my paint hazed and the car was only a year old. I put a clear bra on my 2004 pickup when it was new, it has 88k on it and I live in Colorado at 7240ft above sea level where the UV is worse than almost any place in the US and we have 6 months of winter with pea gravel on the road and huge miller moths in the summer and its still clear as the day they put the 3M bra on almost 8 years ago. If you buy a quality clear bra like 3M and have a quality paint job you will not have yellowing or pealing of paint. I want to know what the bad is on a clear bra. Price? Clear bras will probably out last the paint job itself.

I can tell you a bucket of bad with an old style bra, 1 they trap moisture and have to remove them all the time and you are stuck out in the weather doing it then have to find a place to store it and dry it out and clean it again. 2 they ware out much faster and become loose and flap while going down the highway causing damage. 3 the UV will destroy them so up keep is always on going. 4 you have to remove them to wash your car. 5. they take away from a look of most cars (subjective). I guess on good thing is they are cheaper than a clear bra if that’s what it is all about.

Why don't they make a wind deflector for MINIs?

Yeah, I don't see how a clear piece of film would cause your paint to peel, fade, or yellow. That just sounds like FUD to me.

My husband has a clear bra on his BMW M3 and it's held up nicely. No yellowing or peeling... He had a clear bra on his last car as well, and even on pealing that bra off, no discoloration of paint or anything like that.
Definitely getting clear bra on my CMS. Wouldn't trust anything else. I think it all has to do with who does the install and what kind of clear bra they use.
Luckily I've got a friend who used to install it so he knows the good stuff when he sees it.

Question Cost of clear bra for Countryman

I just got a quote of $550 for installing a clear bra protecting the front of the bonnet, bumper, and mirrors for my Countryman -- is this reasonable?

Yes that's a really good price. I just got my GTI done, 18" up hood plus entire nose plus mirrors, behind door handles and top of rear bumper and my windows tinted and it was $1100.

I've seen a nose protector for the standard mini - but not for the countryman. Too bad because I'd get one to use only for long road trips. Just can't swing the clear right now - maybe later this summer I will.
