Hey Mini Motorists, i was just lookin around shops near by, and i have been looking at threads on here and i have been on minimania.com, i was wondering if i should do a custom exhaust, by cutting a section off and putting glasspacks where my two mufflers are. Or, to save all the cutting, is there anything i could do thats legal, and not putting a hole in my exhaust that would make it louder? Im new to the Mini Modding World!

 

Google the 'one ball' exhaust. Relatively easy to do, requires that you buy nothing new, and will absolutely make it louder.

whatever you do, DO NOT put glass packs in the place of your resonator and muffler. i took mine off put a Y pipe and welded in two magnaflow glasspacks and then straight out the back. it is not good what so ever. it sounds okay but eventually gets louder and louder. it drones A LOT! so i went back to stock and i wasnt satisfied so i went ahead and did the one ball mod. its a bit louder and deaper but if i had to say its barely any different than stock. personally i wanna get a similar set up to the alta exhaust. 1 resonator then a 1 sided muffler. but my 2 cents dont do the glass packs alone.

 

Why not just get a whole new exhaust from the cat back instead of using the skinny stock exhaust piping? Get a muffler and tips and ask the shop to weld you something up like the Alta exhaust.

 

Thanks, itsartem, i heard from my friends at a local shop it was a bad idea. I have been told the term "drone", but im not exactly sure what it means. And rickyr53, i was actually thinking about that, but i want to get to know my car more and stuff, and i have done things already, but i actually paid for them. This might sound funny, but i custom made an exhaust for my Tomos Moped (im 16, btw) and it was preaty awesome from my personal desires. I never exactly liked just bolting stuff on, i like challenges and fab work. its preaty awesome and fun to me. I hate feeling like a Ricer. No ****ie.

 

Do any of you know if anyone had just put a small muffler under the little plate and just ran it straight back?
