Silver Front Turn Signal Bulbs

Got a pair of silver coated bulbs on e-bay for under $10 to swap out the amber factory front turn signals. OEM part number 2357 however in my application this was the same bulb as the standard #1157 bulb.

I ordered these on Friday from the west coast and were shipped to me who resides at the far end of the east coast. I received them yesterday, Monday. Not bad.

This is referred to as the "de-yolking" mod (as in egg yolks). The bulbs appear silver yet illuminate amber when the turn signal is engaged.

I should have the smaller silver/amber bulbs for the side turn signals in the next day or so.

The smaller side bulbs on my CM are WY5W which I also found on e-bay for $7.49 shipped (from a different vendor).

Check your bulb #'s before ordering.

Below are a couple of before and after pics.

All the best, --Hobie

Did mine a few months ago as well...really like how they turned out.....especiailly when i thought that when i ordered white turn signals when i ordered my CM these would have been done already for me...but, alas, they weren't, but it was truly the easiest DIY project to date(now the mudflaps were a whole other issue!)

Have you found the white side turn signal bulbs that fit the CM side scuttle lights?

Are the silver bulbs as bright as the amber originals, or is some intensity lost?

off topic but I notice you have the driving lights. Can you tell me where your switch for those lights are mounted? I am thinking of adding the driving lights to mine and wonder about switch placement.

They seem to be bright enough. I believe they are just amber bulbs coated with high heat silver paint.

It sure as heck makes the car look much better than it had with the egg yolks, IMO.

@Bmtespar, the switch is in the dash panel above the hood release lever.

WARNING, i ordered some from the bimmian website that did'nt remove all the yellow, just clear from a straight front view. they were solaris invisibulbs. i returned them thinking it was just the ones i recieved and was told they all look like the bulbs i had tried the first time. they did refund my money. looking at there pictures, you thing the bulbs are totally chrome but they are silver on top and fade to amber on the sides. i tried ebay chrome bulbs first and recieved 1156 instead of 1157. i put them in my crx and they are also dimmer. they make the car look as old as it really is. im going with amber led's, they totally deyoke and are brighter than amber bulbs covered with a silver film. deyoking is a must!!

Wow - I love the non-egg yolk eyes now. I think you just sold me on them too!
