Sold the MCS, happy motoring everyone!
Hi all,
After only a little over a year with my 2008 MCS, I traded her in. The need for a rear door to help my son get in/out, a little more room in the back, and reliability were my key concerns. And with my warranty ending in two months, it seemed like a good time to do it.
I LOVED my time with the MINI, tons of fun to drive and toss around the curves, but for now I needed something a little more practical, and a little more solid. Maybe when I get in a position to have a weekend car I will be back
Last week I traded Maurtisha in for a new Hyundai Veloster. I definitely miss the power of the turbo, but having the extra door for my kiddo and the extra rear seat room is awesome. And I have had great luck with Kias in recent years (the wife is on her second Sorento, and my 2006 Rio was rock solid), so I figure the Veloster should treat me well. If not, there is a great warranty to work with.
Thanks again all for the fun times and great company. If you are in the Austin area and see some weirdo in a red Veloster waving at you, be kind and wave back

Oh, wait... I believe they are pretty much the same speed. Road and Track is claiming 0-60 in 8.5s for the Veloster, Motor Trend says 8.8s, actuall owners see 8.6 - 8.7. Some cursory Googling turns up 8.9 (manual) and 10.4 (auto) for the Clubman?
I am not hating on the Justas, mind you, just pointing out that while the Veloster is not fast, it is on par with other 1.6 litered cars of similar size.
The driving dynamics are definitely different, though. I could see myself in a MINI Roadster or Coupe as a weekend car. An All4 JCW Roadster? Oh yeah!!!
Sorry, but no good pics of my new Veloster yet, so here are some crappy camera phone pics

Thanks! I am definitely pleased with the tech goodies.
I do wish I had not sold my BSH OCC, though. This engine being direct injection will very likely need one too

Nice! I was seriously considering that exact Veloster (Red with Tech/Style) until I drove one. Just wasn't enough fun. So I drove a Cooper S and wound up with one of those, and here I am now.
But I still think the Veloster is a fantastic looking vehicle. Congrats!
