DIY Mud Flap Directions (Tech Version)

Thanks to the Mini Parts Dept for giving me a copy of these. These are much better than the directions that came with the Mud Flaps.

Link: Mud Flap Installation PDF

I would like to see how this compares to the directions that have been posted on this forum. Unfortunately when I click on the link it states that I do not have permission to access the file. As an aside, the dealer quoted me over $140 to install the mud flaps.

I think I fixed it. I changed the privileges to "anyone who has the link". So it should work for you now.

Really? What could possibly happen if you don't do this?

I skimmed through it, and while it's more thorough than what's been posted on the forum, it's overkill. I don't think you could install the mudflaps incorrectly if you tried.

Thanks for posting it, though! It's a nice reference, and it's always interesting to see how complicated BMW makes things. How much of the cost of having the dealer install them is paying the techs to read through 10 pages of instructions?

Surprisingly, 95% of the TIS guides start with: "Disconnect the negative pole of the battery."

It's a liability limitation - silly, isn't it?

If they really, really want to preserve their liability they should also print;

"Do not stand in a bucket of water whilst disconnecting the negative pole of the battery"

Lol!

I'm glad I didn't see these before I decided to install myself otherwise I may have opted out since they make seem so much more complicated than it actually was.

I do agree with chrunck in that it serves as a reference that's good to have. I think my install was like 45 minutes for the first side, and 5 minutes for the other side since I spent so much time figuring out what went where with the non existent instructions that came with my kit.

My dealer quoted $300 to install them, I plan on doing it myself as well when my CM comes in
