Auto door unlock?

On my wife's CR-V we can set all the doors to unlock when the car is put in park. Makes it nice for unloading kids from the back seat etc.

Any way to program a CM to do something like that?

Unfortunately, you have to program the driver. Center switch at the bottom of the console. Flip it up or down, it does the same in either direction.

(Note - there a people who hack into the computer system and ferret out BMW functions that are not available to MINI. They might be able to tell you something.)

I agree it would make it much more convenient if the all doors unlocked when put into park. Almost every other day I find myself parking, doing a double pull to open my door, try to open the rear door to get [whatever I need at the time], find it locked, open the front door, reach into the middle console to unlock all doors, close front door, open rear door and get [whatever] and then lock everything up. Or once I realize the rear door is still locked, I have to lock everything and unlock everything using comfort access (which is strangely unresponsive half the time).

I'm sure I'll eventually get used to just flipping the center console unlock switch everytime before I get out of the car instead of doing the double pull of the door handle. Not quite there yet, but I hope soon because it can be pretty irritating.

I have mine programmed so that that the automatic central locking system is off. Page 27 in the Owners Manual. I've always hated cars that lock the doors automatically when I drive off, so glad I could program that out.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I like the doors to lock automatically at drive-off.

The ability to have the doors unlock when you put it in park is programmable if you can find someone nearby who does NCSExpert programming. Check the 2nd Gen mods page if you are interested.

You might be able to get the dealer to program it for you. I know they used to with the 1st Gen cars, but I don't know if they still do.

That's indeed the answer to what you're looking for - if someone is nearby, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to make that change for you.

If you still can't find someone near you after some time, you could always borrow (or buy) a D-CAN cable and tackle it yourself fairly easily.

With the software changeover to ISIS / ISSS from Progman/INPA, I sincerely doubt a dealer would be able or willing to do this for a customer nowadays.

Unfortunately, BMW has taken a lot of control out of the hands of the dealers with the new infrastructure setup.
