Interior/Exterior My Hood is crooked
My Hood is crooked
I was just looking at it when I got home and it is seriously crooked and I am not sure why and what I am going to do to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
On mine, the hood sometimes doesn't latch on one side or the other, especially when I close the hood too gently, it makes the hood look crooked. Try opening the hood and then close it firmly and see if that fixes it.

My bonnet looks off in a couple of places, I figured it's either a bent hood or miss aligned hinges.
It's not a huge deal, but it does bug me.
I just replaced the hatch hinges, and they were a nightmare. Those require getting under the headliner, so in my R53 it requires taking out back seats, interior panels, pillars, and hand holds (among other goodies here and there).
I wouldn't think it would be too hard to re-align the bonnet.

My passanger side never latches too. i grab the wheel well with one hand and push hood with other, back and forth till it grabs. very anoying.

yeah you can adjust the rubber grommets but they don't do too much for me. I have to grab the side that doesn't close as far down (by the latch on the hood) and pull down on that side to close it. Usually that extra force helps get it in, but, overall these latches are awful.
Even in the boot, the latch makes awful noise and becomes loose. The fix is putting electrical tape around the U latch on the hatch. When my dealer saw that they swapped the latch assembly, it solved the issue for a few weeks, then came back. Back to the electrical tape now.

there's a way to fix the gap. the latch/hook on the bonnet can be adjust. just remove the rectangular plastic covering around the latch and adjust the latch by twisting it clockwise/counter to adjust the gaps.
There are some rubber bumpers if you will under the hood and I adjusted them and now it is fixed. I might play with them more so give it a little more of a tighter fit. But it is fixed.
FYI, I once had a different gap size on each side, dealer corrected but now if I tap on the hood (or use a duster), when on one of the corners you can hear the hood clank up/down. Adjustments exist, but you have to be careful with them, clearly, as you fix one thing and start another problem.
