Bike in the boot?

Has anyone tried fitting a road bike in the back of their Countryman? I'm sure the front wheel would need to be removed but it would be nice if it would fit.

I rode my Hybrid bike from work to the dealership when I first picked up the CM. Popped front wheel off and got it all in. Would not recommend this as a normal transport mode...too easy to damage or grease-up something on the interior.
I now have a roof-rack to normal transport.

I do believe my riding group would drop me in about 1/2 second on that bike...if for no other reason than they wouldn't want to be seen with me :-)

Are you talking about fitting it in with the back seats up? I just tried it, the width is way off. Back seat down is no problem, you don't even need to move the passenger seat all the way forward. I've even done it several times in my R53 with the back seats down by taking the front wheel off.

Thanks for all the info and photo.

What I was wanting to do is take the front wheel off and mount a block to the floor near the back door that accepts the fork and have the bike in the upright position. I ride a 54cm bike....I wonder if the seat would clear the ceiling?

Here is what I want to screw into the back floor:

I have a 53 cm and just tried, even moving the front seats all the way forward there was no way to make it work.

I had made this for our Countryman to protect the interior when hauling a bike or anything else dirty. I like this much better then dealing with bike racks. If there was sufficient demand I would consider making some to sell.

Feel free to PM me if interested. I am thinking I would need at least 5 people interested to be able to make them at a decent price.

Very cool, pappatho! I really like how high it comes up on the sides. What is the material (thickness? water proof?) and what's a ballpark selling price?

I made this out of Top Gun fabric. From the vendor "TOP GUN is a rugged fabric known for its superior strength, excellent abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, and an exceptionally high degree of water repellency. TOP GUN is also ultra-violet and mildew resistant."

I see that you have the surf blue car with the surf blue interior... Are there any other pictures of the interior of your car? I'd love to see the contrast of the different Surf Blue's... Thanks.

I'd be interested too. The one on minimotoringaccessories.com is super expensive. And the only other one I've seen doesn't have guards on the side either...

I thought I posted yesterday. I would love to make something like this for my cm, but don't have it yet. Would you share pattern or dimensions? How is it standing up or attached?
Thanks

Looks like its attached to the front seats somehow...midway back there are straps that most likely engage the 'hanger' features on the rear jesus handles...then in the boot it seems to be hooked to the 'grocery bag' hooks. Nice work. I'd be interested.
