2012 fJCW Hatchback Deliveries in the US

Hi All,

When are you expecting delivery of your factory-ordered JCWs? Has anyone in the US already received theirs yet?

I checked in with my MA about the grille surround and he told me that our cars *will* still have the black one, not the chrome.

Does anyone else have any info on this? The US configurator still shows the black surround also...

Mine is sitting at the dealership while I'm waiting on my bank to figure out how to mail a check. I'll see if my MA can get me a pic and I'll post it.

I wonder if it's model specific? The Clubbie on the configurator shows a chrome surround.

edit: aaaaaaaand of course the Clubman gets screwed once again. No aero kit NOR black grill surround. What other friggin options are we getting hosed on???

quality_sound--Thanks, that would be greatly appreciated!

The Clubbie (in the US, anyways) doesn't come with a standard JCW Aerokit, whereas the Hatch does--so that's something to keep in mind.

I'm military stationed here so mine is a US spec car. I was KIND OF ok with not getting the aero kit even though our price got jacked up as well but now we don't get the grill surround either?? Oy... If I didn't need room for the kids in the back...

I'm really not sure why Mini decided to exclude the Clubbie from the standard JCW Aero Kit. Completely unfair.

Traditionally the black grille surround has been a part of the JCW Aero Kit package, so, previous model years of the hatch also did *not* come with a black grill surround either.

The reason for all the confusion is that Euro Spec, Canadian, etc. vehicles for "early" 2012 models (from the early summer...) on message boards were delivered with chrome grill surrounds. Plus, the JCW Coupe (in all press releases--even in the US) has come with a chrome grill surround too. Then...when the MINIUSA website was updated for 2012, the configurator still showed a black surround for the hatch, even though the JCW Coupe came with a chrome...!

Hence, all the confusion. In the meantime, I'm keeping tabs of what is on the website, what I've been told by my MA, etc. In the event that my car (finally) arrives with a chrome surround, I don't want to have to shell out $250+ for a black one, if I've been promised and reassured of it as standard...

When I got my 2011 JCW it of course has the chrome grill surround. I checked with the local dealer to see what a black surround would cost. Turns out the aerokit surround is slightly different shaped and won't fit right. The bottom corners of the surrounds are different. Anyway, $8 for a can of Plasti-dip and an hours time, most of that waiting for the plasti-dip to dry, and my surround looks great. Been on for over a year now, has not faded. Its flat black, so it pretty much matches the wheel arches. Also it easily peels off without hurting the chrome underneath.

MINI Downtown in Toronto Canada had a factory JCW Coupe sitting in the dealership showroom the other day. It had the JCW Aero of course, and it the grill surround was CHROME. (Hoping my JCW Hatch will arrive with a BLACK grill surround.)

Even though fJCW 2012 were not supposed to start until Oct2012, they also had a 2012 JCW Hatch and I'll be damned if I can remember the grill surround colour. My eyes were drawn to the Chili Red roof I guess.

My JCW hatch is still not in Production... Supposed to be in Oct slot, Oct is almost over...

I placed a deposit on a 2012 JCW Hatch back in early July. I've yet to receive anything from my dealer about production.... I was originally hoping to take delivery by Thanksgiving, but now I'll just be happy to get it before New Year's

Just checked with Ask Mini--my car is in production! With any luck, should be done in about a week and delivered to the West Coast by December...

It's a matter of when orders were placed. I placed my order in August so I got one of the very first build slots for a 2012. I've seen some 2012 US Spec hardtops over here already as well.

Yes, a 2012 factory JCW hatch/hardtop (NOT a Coupe).

I put in a deposit in August and was expecting an early 2012 build slot.
