Random, funny, almost impossible.

I work at a Petsmart. Well, last week, we had 2 Great Pyrenees in our grooming salon. If you aren't a dog enthusiast or know random breeds, it's a giant, white, fluffy dog that generally weighs a minimum of 120 pounds. Well the best part is, they hopped out of a pepper white Clubman S. It absolutely made my day. And the owner and I had a conversation about our cars

I could see them fitting with the seats folded down - especially in a clubman.

We are avoiding PetSmart these days - on two separate occasions our Chinese Shar Pei puppy was bitten by other dogs in the store. If your dog is not friendly, why the hell are you in the pet store with your dog? And if I ask you "is your dog friendly" and you say "yes", but it's not - WTF?

And of course, here are my mandatory dog pics:

Unfortunately, common sense isn't common at all.

I knew a guy with a Pyrenees, it was such a cool dog. Enormous polar bear of a beast and it thought it was a puppy, loved to play and jump at your chest.

Ugh what a horrible story. That makes me really sad. I'm actually a pet trainer and bather. I wish I had a dollar for every time some idiot brought a non friendly dog in. Being a trainer though, I have an eye for it and just educate the pet owners in my classes about what to look for and I'll flat out tell them "do not let your dog say hi to that dog, he isn't friendly." There's nothing that upsets me more than dog fights, even accidental. I have a lab who was a rescue dog and she HATES dogs charging into her face so I'll give people a head's up. Despite that, I still have occasional morons who don't listen to me and it irritates me then they flip out because she growls. Well, gee, I told you she isn't the best with dogs. I had a Chinese Shar-Pei named Wrinkles in 2 of my classes, he's so awesome!!!! I love him

Pyrenees are awesome. But imagine 2 hopping out of a Clubman. It made my day!!!

I'm getting much better at picking up on the behavioral cues from an unfriendly dog before I let my dog say hi.

I wouldn't call them idiots for not properly socializing their dog. Some people don't use their dog as a socializing tool. So people just want a dog that they love and if it doesn't like other dogs so be it. Should they be careful when they go places that are going to have other dogs and people? Yes they should. My dog liked other dogs as long as they were male. If another female showed up it was world war 3. She was very alpha female. Had we known what to look for and what to do we could have fixed it. But at the time dog training people were not as prevalent as they are now. You are around dogs all day you know what to look for. Not every schmuck off the street does.

I agree - if your dog is not very social, be careful when around other people and dogs. And if someone asks if it is friendly, be honest.

My last Shar Pei was less friendly with dogs so we were always cautious until she was around 12 years old, calm and deaf and she was fine.

Oh always. It ends up falling on the owner. Always. If you don't work with the dog, you can't expect results. But that's all totally unrelated to the massiv fluffy polar bear Pyrenees hopping out of a MINI
