I finally bit the bullet and placed my order today. After changing my configuration online I finally printed it out and went to Global Imports Atlanta ready to buy...

IB/W
White bonnet stripes
CVT
Premium (2 spoke MFSW)
Auto wipers/mirrors
H/K audio
Sport seats (black leatherette)
Anthracite/black interior

I got them to drop the BS $595 dealer prep fee if I agreed to buy some floor mats (which I'd planned to get anyways). She said to expect 8-10 weeks for delivery, so I guess that puts me in the April club

Strangely, I was dead set on the 5-speed... until I drove both one after the other before handing over my deposit. Not only was the CVT much better in afternoon traffic, but in the one straight where I did manage to punch it a bit it seemed quicker on the uptake than the 5-speed (in the 20-60mph range).

Anyhow, any suggestions on how to pass the time until it arrives?!?!!?! I don't have my production number yet (should get it Thursday/Friday), so I can't start checking the status religiously

Thanks to everyone who gave some reviews/advice to help the decision... you guys rock!

First of all, welcome to NAM and MINI parenthood!

To reduce waiting anxiety, surf on NAM and MINI2 to learn more about your baby!

As for me, I started ordering stuffs for my MINI during the wait. By the time I took delivery of the car, my garage already has a huge pile of upgrades waiting to be installed.

I've actually already ordered 2 accessories now that you mention it... I had the dealer order me an aux audio kit (to install myself, they wanted $60 for that!), and I've ordered an ipod to mount

I'm in the process now of reading through the various ipod mounting related threads here and on mini2 to decide which mount/holder to buy.

I'll probably have quite the collection by the time it gets here I really want to order an RC Mini... but the ones from the Mini store are _$110_!!!! Any suggestions on where I might find an IB/W RC Mini?

Thanks again!

Ordered mine yesterday from HankAaronMini in Atlanta, and am having a hard time dealing with the thought of an 8 week wait! So I feel your pain brother. I've been on the Mini Order Tracking site about 500 times today to see if the status has changed yet
I'm also glad to see such a friendly community that has sprung up around this fantastic little car. I'm looking forward to being a part of it!

Do you mind my asking... what did Hank Aaron charge you in dealer charges total? Bargaining w/ their notion of the "dealer prep" fee being BS is what got it dropped at Global Imports. I was prepared to go to Hank Aaron, but Union City is a bit of a drive for me.

Upon closer inspection of my invoice, it would seem that I was charged the $399 doc fee in addition to $39 title/tag and $3 lemon law fee. Other than that I paid straight retail (I had to buy floormats, but I was getting those anyways).

I think your choices are great. Wish I had ordered the HK audio. Which wheels, (and are they white or silver), did you order?

I haven't gotten to that part yet, just placed my deposit for the order. I'm actually really not looking forward to the financial part of the process. I'm trying not to think about that just yet. Seeing that you got the prep fee dropped gives me hope, though.

resmini - I ordered the 15" 8-spoke wheels. I toyed with the notion of the runflats for a while, but when I test-drove the car w/ runflats it felt a bit stiff over the speed bumps for my taste (I don't like taking them slowly).

I initially put Silver....

I still have 1 week to change things (according to my MA). Those of you that have the white wheels, are they as awful to keep clean as I would imagine? I want white (to match the color scheme) but do NOT want to have to polish my wheels 3 times a week.

Besides buying some of your accessories, you could start on your collection of diecast/plastic model/cardboard 3D fold-up/RC/plastic toy MINI's. My latest ones (including a classic Mini) are from Herpa, makers of 1:87 scale vehicles- amazingly detailed at about 1 1/2" long. Smallest MINI's I've ever seen.

I have the white 5-spoke 16" wheels on my CR/W MC. I like them much better on my car than silver, (I also think they look great with IB/W). They get a lot of brake dust on them.....but to me they look better than silver even when they aren't perfectly clean. I recommend white.

I ordered mine last week and I'm pretty sure I will go crazy before it arrives! It already feels like I have been waiting a month. The wait is gonna kill us. I will limit myself from checking on the status to once a week, and try to keep myself busy. I am also trying to not tell too many of my friends, so they don't keep asking me "When will it arrive, I want a ride!". BTW, I'm new to posting here, but have been lurking for a while, thanks for all the great posts and information, really helped me make my order easy. April will bring me: IB/W MC, White 16's, Prem, CVT, Xenons, happiness

No, my friend, the wait is going to transform you. By the time your MINI arrives you will be reduced (or elevated) to being a complete MINIac! You'll know so much about MINIs and Mini history....know so many local and virtual owners....and will fall so completely in love with your own personal MINI that slipping into that driver's seat will seem like coming home. I AM NOT kidding!!!

Juan, nice to see you enjoyed the CVT so much...I'd LOVE to test drive one. (...I prefer silver wheels. Mine are 7-holes.)
SF, let us know if you have any ???s on your order. We have LOTS of opinions!
