Wheel spacers -- will it rub?

I want to bump out the wheels on my mini...

Right now looking at the 20mm spacer sets on Mini Mania:
http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/NMW4205/InvDetail.cfm

Go big or go home, right?

My question: will this cause my wheels to rub? I am at stock height right now, might think about lowering an inch down the line, depending on how things go with the spacers.

Also, does anyone know if this will cause me any problems with my stock lugs etc? The kit comes with longer bolts, which I assume would be up to the added punishment.

Thanks!

I can tell you that my O.Z. rims do cause rubbing on bumps with stock suspension. So, you can probably count on that to happen if you put the spacers on. Are you running 17"?

Yeah, stock 17s. Are you running spacers?

No spacers on mine. The O.Z. Ultraleggeras have a wider stance than the stock wheels. They barley rub in the rear when you hit a hard bump.

Well then I shudder to think what would happen with 20mm spacers...

Is there a company that makes flared fenders? I've seen them for the original mini before.

Not sure if I have seen one. Mind you, mine only rub a little and only when I hit a fairly hard bump. You might be able to get stiffer springs to help avoid that.

Yeah, that's a possibility. I would love to keep the ones that came with the mcs, though. Perfect combo meal of cushy and sport.

I would also love to get flared fenders just for the look. I think that would really set my mini apart. I almost want to order set for the original mini and try them out. Maybe I could fiberglass them without too much work...

The MINIs already have a plastic fender "flare" if you want to call it that. It's attached to the fender by way of sheetmetal and clips. Methinks you could find a way to bond the plastic flare onto the body besides those clips. Cut out the metal and bam, more room.

I love my S-lites. I think they look absolutely perfect on the car. However, they weigh 28 lbs and are only 7" wide. I honestly thought about widening them to 8", but after getting a quote from a company in Michigan that widens wheels (they charged me $225 per wheel PLUS shipping), I decided to save money and buy a wider set.

For the record, I'm in the process of installing aftermarket 240ZG-Style flares on my AWD DSM. Those might work with MINIs with some cutting/trimming. Exposed rivets make you look like a boss.

Only if you actually know what you're doing with body work. Which I don't. Unfortunately.

Might need to find a good shop for it.
