Royal Grey

I'm waiting for my Countryman All4 in Royal Grey plus black roof and mirrors. every time I see a picture of one in Royal grey online the color seems different and doesn't really look as nice as the one I saw at the dealership. Sometimes it looks brownish and sometimes it looks like a bit of green in it. I hope I didn't make a mistake and get fooled by a lighting effect in the showroom. I had originally intended white with black but changed my mind when I saw the Grey metallic in person. In the showroom it looked like really dark silver.

Same thing happened to me. I only saw it indoors under their fluorescent lighting. I would order a different color if I had it to do over again. Can't say I hate it, but it is green sometimes and brown others. Definitely not grey unless the sun is very bright and high in the sky. I'd say it's the least "sporty" color I've seen on a Mini. Would love to have the real grey that's available on the hardtop. In fact, I'm thinking of having it painted.

Darwin/Traprock,

I agree. All CM colors look different when in the sunlight. The green turned us away from the Royal Grey. We had narrowed it down to three colors. True Blue, Royal Grey and Light Coffee. Believe me it was a difficult choice. We went to dealers that had all the colors (with the exception of yellow on their lots and checked out everything. True blue just didn't sit right for me. Royal Grey I found to be a bit green in the direct sunlight. The colors on the brochure and under fluorescent are not given justice. Light Coffee was a different color, it has a purplish tinge when in the sunlight and it looked good with the black roof and mirrors. We saw it in all choices imaginable. What I would do with the Royal Grey is to find Bonnet stripes that make it stand out. For example with the absolute black I love the red stripes.

I got it with the black roof, mirrors, and black bonnet stripes. I am toying with the idea of the black-jack mirror caps and possibly sunroof graphic.
It looked so sexy in the showroom in person, but it's hit or miss in pictures. I guess if I had to chooses whether I like it more in person or more in pictures...it'd be better to like it more in person.
I've had a number of white cars before, so even though I thing the white with black looks awesome, I was gonna go with something different. The Crystal Silver was just way too light. I never considered the red because I've never been "red car guy" but maybe I should have because it looks great with white or with black.
Anyhow, I know its too late to do anything about it and I know I'm still going to love my mini. It's at the port waiting for a boat.
I have to say all the colors mini puts out are very nice. The only CM color I didn't like was the yellow.

Royal Grey was used in 2006 and is one of my favorite MINI colors. They are rare to see on the road, and I'm glad they brought it back, hopefully they keep the low production numbers though.

Trap, I'll sign up for that club! Mine just arrived at the dealer today.. pic here. You chose wisely, I like how the RG is like a chameleon and its ability to change color. It's like seeing a new Mini every time

Looks great. No bonnet stripes though???

I'm jealous. Mine is still waiting for a ship to bring it to NY as I'm going more and more insane.

I didn't opt for the sport package so my wheels are the black version of the one next to yours in the photo. Those are the 18" Turbo Fans?

Nah, not a stripe kinda guy but maybe I should've done it.. hmm

I know how you feel, its been abt 70 days since I ordered but probably a year since I first thought abt the CM. I called the hotline and checked OL every single day.. I even drove by the dealer every day this week to check for new arrivals haha

Yes those are the anthracite 18's. I have a bunch of RG pictures I collected over the months.. PM me with your email and I can zip 'em up and send over if you're interested

Fluorescent light makes everything look like crap. If you looked at the M3 in Phoenix gold it looked like baby poo. They should ban them from dealer showrooms. Royal Grey is a gorgeous color wish I had ordered it when offered in 06.
