<opinion>I hate cars that honk the horn when you lock the car with the remote. I'm glad the MINI doesn't do this...</opinion>

Hope you find a way to make it happen

I'm pretty sure that previous forum threads have indicated that you don't have the option of an audible chirp when you lock up unless you have the factory alarm system.

I'm certainly not mad. I didn't mean my post to sound judgmental. I only mentioned that it had been covered in previous threads because I don't have any personal knowledge of the oem alarm system. If you're looking for an audible noise when you lock up you can create a diy chirper by installing a piezo electric chime and wiring it up to the solenoid that locks the fuel door.

there is a thread out on how to program the computer with the same setting as a car with the alarm and it will make the horn beep, lights flash and makes the little red light on top of the tac flash to make people think the car has the alarm disable.

Also how were you able to get the light to flash when locked the doors mine does not do that

You can certainly have it make a beep when it locks or unlocks!

The programmable options are, as outlined on page 21 of the owners manual:
1 lights flash only
2 beep only
3 both beep and lights
4 no beep or lights

That only applies to cars with alarm systems.

As mentioned it's in the tach settings but note that the lights only flash 1 time for lock or unlock. If you press lock then the lights flash but will not flash again until you press unlock.
If you are using the remote to find your car in a dim parking garage then you would need to alternate pressing lock /unlock.

As amazing as it may seem, you do have to have the optional alarm system for the car to make any sound when you lock it with the remote. This true of my 2008 BMW 335i too. This makes it a very expensive chirp! You can buy a $15,000 Chevy that beeps when you lock it, but a $50,000 335? Uh..no.
