i noticed yesterday evening that every time in have the sport button on and let go off the gas, there is a popping sound (like backfire) coming from the exhaust. this does not happen when it is off.
I have 6500 miles on my 2011 Clubman S. I recently noticed that the Pop noise (backfire) is gone during "S" mode. Anyone else experience this. The only difference is that the weather is cooler now a days in San Francisco 40 to 60 f. Did my first oil change with OEM Mini Oil and filter at 5000 miles. It was firing around the 2200 rpm range while decelerating. Any clue??
Thank you
It works only when the Sport Button is engaged. It won't pop until the engine is up to operating temperature (after about two miles of driving.) You can make the pop sound by downshifting to slow the car down.
I love the pop and burble! I just don't hear it enough.
I've had it pop without the sport button on a few times. Mostly when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd and without pushing the throttle particularly hard after engaging 3rd.
