Hi guys,

Is normal that the check engine light never goes on when I turn the switch with the key of my MCS 06 ?

I bought my car a little time ago, like 3 months ago and I noticed this when I checked to buy it, my mechanic guy connected it a scanner and the only problem he saw was the oxygen sensor and nothing else, but the strange thing is that the check engine has to be on because of that, but not.

And I never see the check engine light on, only when the mechanic guy reset it and then we see it (on and then off of course) but that is all.

What do u think ?

My "SES" light goes on and off like christmas. At least once a week. When it was out, I pulled a stored code "Oxygen sensor reading high" or something (didn't note the code number). So it's possible (on a 2002 USA model, at least) for an intermittent emissions issue to intermittently trigger the light. Mine does illuminate with ignition on, however.

My engine icon lights up every time I turn the car on. I think it's a bulb test, so a shady dealer couldn't just remove a bulb to hide a CEL problem? Could be wrong. Maybe it's a dead bulb.

 

The very strange thing is that I saw it on when the scanner reset everything and then all the lights were on for a moment then off

So the check engine light is fine but I cant see it when I turn on the switch with my key
