Thinking of Selling - Advice Please

I'm thinking of selling my 2006 MCS - it's been a great car but need something bigger. I have been watching prices for a few months and they seem to vary quite a bit, so I'm curious what some who frequent this board might think, as well as perhaps getting some advice as far as the best way to advertise (e.g. EBay, here, etc.).

Car has a few small scratches and some road rash on the wheels but is about as good as you'll find for the age (sorry no pics handy at the moment) Dark silver with chrome, 17" wheels (new non-run flats), leatherette, premium package, 6-speed, and 29.6K gentle miles. An idiot side-swiped her 3 years ago and the passenger-side door and rear fender were replaced - but without mention it is not noticeable at all as the shop did an amazing job.

I'm in Northern Virginia, where service is easy to get to.

Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It varies by region. In CT, I'm seeing cars like that with asking prices from 8k to 11k at used car lots with average miles and options. I paid $1,500 for mine eight months ago (needed transmission), and feel I overpaid, since I have $4,400 into it, and I'll never get that back. Labor of love, as they say.

I'm going to unload my 06 if I can ever find someone to buy it. Unfortunately, unless you trade it, no one has cash on hand to buy used cars any more. It's easier to buy one financed on a car lot for folks these days. I'd love to get back into a 90-93 Miata. Broke a valve spring in my 06 in the damn driveway and have lost confidence in Mini. Never have broken a spring, not even in my track car. Poor quality or even a defect I'd say. They say used car prices are way up, I don't see it on C'list, and cars stay on listing for months now. I don't expect things will change much in the future either. Although I see Minis on local lots for ridiculas prices getting sold, but without that financing I fear we are stuck with them or forced to give them away.

Got to be realistic on the price of course and it may take awhile.
List it as many places as you can... Of course you can't be asking as much as the car lots are, got to make it attractive for the buyer to want to go to the trouble to contact their bank which will want to see the car etc. etc..

Are you telling people it has been wrecked?? You need too but most will not want to pay a premium price for it compared to another that hasn't been wrecked.. as you wouldn't either..

You are going to have trouble selling it in NoVA. I live near the Richmond area and just bought mine. The one I got was the only one outside of the Mini dealer (who had redonkulous high prices BTW) who had one. However there were a ton of them on Autotrader in the NoVA area. I'd recommend getting on Autotrader to get a feel for the pricing and availability of other Mini's in the area.
