2012 JCW - White Silver or Midnight Black?

Hi All,

Great info on this forum--thanks to all who post!

Looking to order a 2012 JCW (November build--so *with* the standard JCW aero kit), but am torn between 2 color schemes:

1. Midnight Black / Chili Roof and Mirror Caps with Black Wheels and JCW bonnet stripes.

2. White Silver / White Roof and Mirror Caps with Silver Wheels and White bonnet stripes.

I've seen the Midnight Black / Chili combination a few times--looks great! But I've never seen (and can't seem to find images online...) the White Silver / White combination with a JCW aero kit.

Does anyone have a car with that combination who wouldn't mind posting a few images?

Also, thoughts about these 2 color schemes?

Thanks!

Sorry...no pics but the MNB w/chili is real nice looking. WS with a MB roof is a looker also. I'm on the same path only in a convert. MNB or WS for me. Good luck whatever you pic.

When I saw the Chili Red roof for the JCW on the black--I was sold. As I justified selling my less than 2 yr old 135 (red) I got looking at other color combinations. I always liked the Pepper White and finally decided on that combo. For me the red roof sets it off and is only factory available on a JCW. Best I can determine there are only several with my color combo here in the US. Nice. If you go with CR roof and mirrors. Delete the sunroof--save some weight and the solid red top has a faster look than the oversized tinted sunroof.

DoubleNick, I'm totally with you. No intention of getting a sunroof bc I never use it. Likely, they took the sunroof out from the Premium Package for 2012. =)

My only beef with the White Silver is that you can't get the adaptive xenons. It's weird that the black housing is the limiting factor.

Also, if you want the CR roof but something easier to take care of, look at Eclipse Gray. It's darker than it looks on the configurator.

Thanks again for all the comments and suggestions. After weeks of going back an forth, I decided to go with my gut and plan on ordering a Midnight Black with Chili Red roof and mirrors. Interior will be low key, black dash and color line, but with Chrome Line. Opted for the Carbon Punch Black Leather over the standard cloth. Would have loved to stick with the cloth seats because they are JCW exclusive and have red stitching that matches the stitching on the steering wheel and shifter boot, but I saw a car in person with 13k miles and the seats showed some wear and tear and staining from just water spots.

Will get an early November build date for the factory standard aero kit, which means a torturous wait until end of December or early January...

What about the Championship Red Lounge Leather? Still low-key but red piping to tie in and still JCW exclusive. It's what I have on my order but I may go back to cloth and pick up the Recaros. :D

I'd love the Recaros! The Championship Lounge would be nice, but decided to save the $500...

The ONLY reason I haven't already bought the Recaros is because I don't really want the cloth seats and $5K for the leather AND Recaros is a lot to swallow.

I would go with the Black/Red, I really like the contrast.

Not one of your options but I would also look at the white/red again a great contrast.

Thanks for all the input. Order finalized:

Decided on the Midnight Black / Chili Red. Now, I just have to wait till December (estimate)...

Thanks!

I haven't had a black car in a while and I know it'll be a lot of work, but I decided to go with my gut. I would have loved it if the Bright White from the Countryman were available on the JCW, but no such luck.

So happy that the aero kit is included now...

I was very close to getting the black/red combo but I went with the eclipse grey /red. The last 3 cars I have had were black, and I just wanted something different. I must say, not much looks better then shinny black, and that red roof is going really pop.

What are people's thoughts on the chilli roof and resale? Not resale to a fellow enthusiast but the average Joe who thinks they want their fist mini...

I think it's a classy look. Resale is only as good as a "Found" buyer. I never bought anything with resale being a concern.

I think that JCW buyers are a small niche anyhow, so I'm hoping that (when that day of resale comes to mind) the "JCW-only" trim items, such as the JCW bonnet stripes and red roof / mirrors, will be items that a buyer would like or appreciate. In the end, it's doubtful that a JCW buyer is NOT someone who heavily researches the car, options, etc. before taking the plunge.

I look at the chili red roof as an identifying characteristic of the JCW brand, kind of like the carbon roof on the M3 coupe. Also, if someone is already looking for a JCW they are looking for something "sporty" and I think the chili red roof screams it.
I specifically didn't order the sunroof because I wanted an uninterrupted chili red roof, weight saving, and one less thing to fail and rattle. Owe yeah, and red is my favorite color.

Being in the business, black cars have ALWAYS and will ALWAYS have a greater resale value than the same car in a different color. White cars are a close second.
