Pulley/Iginition/CAI cost to install
I am looking to have a pulley, new ignition parks and a cai installed, and the later two I can do my self, but the pulley is more than I want to take on. I got a quote to install everything for $250 (new pulley, belt, tension retainer thing, cai, ignition).
I can handle the work, I just don't know how long it will take and I work a lot.
Thanks

that sounds like a good deal to me, as i just had a pulley installed and it cost me about $220. i was not about to attempt the pulley myself. i say go for it, if you can't find any one to do it for cheaper. are you getting a tensioner stop? if so go with detroit tuned stop.
Price seems fair....I have seen a pulley done by a very experanced mechanic, and a detroit tensioner stop installed in under a half hour....but I think most places will want the car for a few hours...especially if you are changing the spark plugs to one step cooler jcw plugs...they should be torqued and installed in a cool (not hot) head. It all comes down to repetition....folks used to have pulley parties where the puller was shared, and a number of cars would be done togeather with one experanced person helping out...along with some cold beverages and pizza ...

I think I'll just let them do it. I was thinking the alta kit, any suggestions?
You should be able to do the ignition stuff yourself. The coil bolts right on to the engine and is in plain view. It requires 4 bolts to be removed. Disconnect all the ignition leads and the lead to the computer. Reinstall.
Spark plugs are pretty easy too, they're in plain view.
I say do the ignition stuff yourself. If you ever have a problem on the road somewhere and need to make a quick, on the fly repair, then you know exactly how to do it because you've done it before! Plus, in the old days of points, caps, rotors, you always had to know a thing about the ignition system. This is no different, you just don't have a distributor! That coil "could" go bad on the side of the road somewhere! Unlikely, but it could.
Have fun!
