Rear Bumper Scuff/Scratch Removal?

After washing my '09 today, I noticed scuff marks on top of the back bumper. I think a cardboard box was dragged across it. I tried to treat it with a little rubbing compound but no results. Does anyone have any ideas? thx

It all depends on how deep the scratches are. Any click with your fingernail over the scratch can not be fixed this way. Also, if you see another color.... you'll need to touch it up with paint. :(

Using some type of electric polisher will be the way to go. Always start with the least aggressive methods first and then move up. A DA polisher is more foolproof than a rotary, but if you know what you are doing, a rotary is fine. Rubbing compound is pretty abrasive, so I'd start with a light polishing compound first, using a light pad.

Watch the results and move to a more agressive pad and/or compound until you get results. Then finish up with your lightest polish and pad to minimize swirls.

OR... take it to a shop and have them take the scratches out. If you are starting from scratch it could be cheaper.
