I am still in break in mode on my new MCS. I am keeping it under 4500 rpms. I have heard about the supercharger making this delightful sound, but I haven't heard it. Does the Supercharger kick in above the 4500 mark? And do you feel a real boost when this thing kicks in. Can't wait till I pass the 1200 mile mark to hear this thing.
Thanks all.

The supercharger does not "kick in" like a turbo does, it is always on. The sound is a bit of a whoosh and is very noticeable under full throttle. Not real loud but noticeable.

While it may always be "on", the supercharger surely isnt always working. If you have been following the yoyo chronicles, you will be well aware of your bypass valve.

Thanks to Ryephile, mine no longer works

With the bypass valve, er, bypassed, the supercharger is compressing air constantly and makes good noise right off idle.

Wow, you are a very patient person.... I know of very few who could stand not flooring the car at least once during the Break-in period. If you really want to hear the SC, get an Alta Intake!

Flooring the loud pedal will open up your throttle and allow you to hear the supercharger:

Replacing your stock airbox with an intake will make it MUCH louder.

Alta Intake will allow you to hear the SC just fine plus, it makes more HP.

Yeah! I want to know too, I'm tired of eating Koolmini's dust and choking on his burnt rubber smoke.

Read The Yo-Yo Chronicles for more info.

I strongly suggest you start from the beginning so you understand what is going on.

I never floored in until 1250 miles, and then I only did it a few times before 1800 miles. I slowly took the rpms up with each 50 miles incriment. It may be over-kill, but I want to be safe.

No, honestly you should read it all. This is no performance mod. You are actively disabling some feature that the supercharger manufacturer felt was required. You should understand that. And dont expect any magic either.

Low end torque is clearly up. Significantly, I would say. Significant for driving a 1.6L, that is.

But read that whole thing and know what is going on.

While its good to keep to the break in procedures I still think its good to rev it up past 4500 RPMs a few times during break in like after 600 miles or so just to open it up a little. It wont hurt a thing.
