Hey Guys....and Gals

Well that didn't take long....I trashed a ASALW5 and a Eagle F1 last night in a huge pothole. It was 7:15 and dark...didn't see it...on a major hwy no less....Rt 3 W in clifton if any of you travel it.

I have road hazzard on the tire so that will be covered by the tire rack road hazzard plan
but the wheel is my nickle.

Any one know where I might to be able to get the wheel repairedas a spare.....or is that too costly?

Jersey Girl.....btw I love the F1's.....I think alex has them instock in 215 45 17

Just a curious question for those of you who might know. Shouldn't the state/City be liable for the repair? You pay taxes to drive on roads and for their repair. If someone falls on my sidewalk for ice/disrepair I am liable for the med bill. Shouldn't the state be held accountable for their lack of repair? If more people sue for damage maybe we would have better roads. Does anybody know the legality of this or have tried it?

In priciple I agree with you, but the sad rality is that most city goverments don't give a hoot about someone's blown tire due to a crater sized pothole. To me this is an eternal problem.

This story is a prime example of why I decided to go with the stock 16" tires and rims in my MCS. The low profile of 17+ rubber make these tires extremely vulnerable to road damage...good looks but lotsa problems when incidents like this happen.

He should try filing a claim with the city but don't expect quick or great results.

Wow this hits home with me ! I took quite the hit on my front right 17" S lite tonight while pulling into a gas station on Rt. 17 in Mahwah. It felt like the front end was ripped off the car. )I just got these wheels from Jersey Girl on Sunday! Not much damage, only a couple small chips in the powder coating.I hate the way the roads in Jersey fall apart 6 months out of the year! Well I guess it could have been alot worse! :???:

Bobbyn - you still driving around on summer tires in Jersey??? Get some snows!

I have learned to slow down to a crawl at entrances or other places where the bumps are bad. Between my car being lowered, the MCS replacement lower bumper and my low profile tires, the potential for damage right now is high. New Jersey is a true mess this winter, so all you NJ MINI peeps beware...or anyone driving through this state for that matter.

some pot holes are just not avoidable. You can actually claim it to your
insurance agent as a one car collision. It will benefit you if you have a
$100 or $0 deducible on collision and if you have expensive wheels.

Most insurance companies will pay you up to $500 without affecting
your premium...so it's better than nothing.

If the state was not aware of this pothole prior to your incedent, they are not negligent or liable. They will wait 1 full year to return a denyed claim.

Been there and done that - I lost 2 Moda M1's on 80/90 in a crater. They fixed it later that week. Pics and all.

Save your efforts. - unless its a private organitzation, like a college's road.
