Got my S last month and really love it. I do have a complaint about the heated seats. I have had them before on other cars and they are MUCH warmer. Even on high, they are warm but not anything like other cars I have experienced them in. I don't even bother with the low setting. Anyone else with this experience?

Man, HI is too hot for me. I can't take it for too long once it gets going. Maybe yours aren't working properly.

That said, the Low setting could be warmer.

Yeah I noticed this as well, not nearly as warm as other cars with heated seats,I'm glad I have some heat though although it seems concentrated on the very lower part of your back.

Both the LOW and HIGH settings on my S are hot... I can't handle the HIGH setting at all... feels like my butt and back and burning to a crisp. Wife even has to turn it down sometimes which is weird for her. Sounds like there might be something wrong with yours perhaps?

My seats are plenty hot, but let me clarify, there is not a hi and low. One setting heats the seat and back, the other only heast the back. If yours are not heating well ask the dealer. After a few minutes I have to turn mine off. Same is true of my Ford truck. A little goes a long way.

Get it checked out, using the high setting on my car will cook your buns, I only use it for the initial warm up, which is just about 3-4 minutes then switch to low.

Hi is too hot on my MCS, you must've gotten the Florida edition .

Best to check with the dealer, as you might have a problem.

This is the first time I have seen someone complain they are not hot enough. Mine are plenty good, even with seat covers.

FYI
High is good for Pizza deliveries, it's keeps them pies nice and hot.

I have found that the seat does not get that hot also, but I also have leather. I have found the cloth seats get hotter than the leather. Could this be your case? I have also found that they could have put the “heat coils” in better places. More spread out and farther up the back. I have found that my seats only go part way up the back and centered in the butt not out to sides or in the front at all.

I usually warm my car up in the morings when it is 20 degrees outside. I always turn my seat warmer on. I have leather seats also and mine does not get that warm either. My car usually warms up for about 15 minutes and it takes at least 6 or 7 minutes for me to feel mine real good. I never turn mine off until I get to work 30 minutes later.

I do have leather and it sounds like those of us with leather lose a little heat compared to the cloth. I had leather seats in my last car with heated and they were way hot on high. Oh well, live in the South so don't need them too much....

My seats are leatherette, maybe the cloth and the fake stuff are more porous, which would let more heat through.

I have the leather seats and mine get plenty hot. My wife has an X5 and her seats don't seem to get as hot as mine do in the MINI.

I have the space cloth interior, and the heated seats get plenty hot. Some days it's too much, some days, they can't get too warm. (I had strep throat that day though with fever. lol)

So, what's the deal, is there a high and low setting, or it is seat and back on "HI" and back only on "LOW"?

There is a 3rd theory floating around. My MA told me that the first push of the button (2 lights lit) is to turn them on.. and that the 2nd push of the button (1 light lit) kept the seats at their current temp.

Where is my owners manual??

Have it checked, but don't be surprised if the dealer tells you they are fine. This was a common complaint last year, it didn't seem to matter what type of seats you have, the problem manifested on all types.

Of all that had the seats checked last year, only a few reported that there was an actual problem.

For the record, I've got cloth seats and I think that my heated seats could be warmer...

mayeb it has to do with the size of your butt, but I have the leather seats and Mine get plenty hot not scorching hot,( unless I turn them on in the summer by accident) besides what there best for is getting those leather seats to warm up in general. I mean I use teh heater inthe mini it take all of two minutes to get it heated up...

I got Space cloth on both my MINI's, and both MINI's, the 2-stage heat was "Hot' and "Scalding!" I seriously can't leave it on high for more than 30 seconds before it sends booty-overheat alarms to my brain. I've also found that from off to full temp on low is 20 seconds FYI - the heated seats are supposed to be thermostatically controlled.

That said - I think there may be something a miss with your setup. How easy it will be for your dealership to fix/replace may be another story Good luck!

Mine get pretty hot when both lights are on. I only leave it like that for a few minutes and then turn it down.

Is it really true that it's not a high/low setting, but a back of the seat/bottom of the seat setting? It feels like high/low, but I guess I should take a second look at my owners manual.

My seats are sooo warm....just got my MCS right after Christmas, brand new, only 1000 miles....I have have to turn the seats off after 10 minutes or it gets too hot, even in the low position. Generally I'm warm natured but wife isn't and leaves heat on.

MINI's heated seats warm up relatively quick comparing to other cars. The temp on mine isn't weak at all. Unless I'm extremely cold, I only use it when I first get into the car. As the ambient temp warms up, I turn the heated seat off.

Space cloth on my MCS and those weren't bun warmers. They were bun cookers! They were very hot to the point of sweating.
