R53 MCS dome light stays on

2005 MCS: Just today I had the right 1/3rd of the dome light stay on. When I stop and turn the ignition off it stays on. When I park and get out of the car it stays on. Only way to turn it off is to LOCK the doors with the key fob. Must have something to do with the door locks, but when I lock the doors when driving, the light still stays on.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks --- Skip (Texas)

Are you sure it isn't the right side reading light? Maybe you bumped the button by mistake.

GOOD CATCH

I concur - that's most likely what it is and the reading lamp, or map light, is not described very well in the owner's manuals I've looked at. In the 2006 manual it - and the buttons on the ends of the interior light - are not mentioned unless you know what you are looking for.

press the button on the end of that side and it should go off . . .

let us know lest we not sleep tonight in anxious anticipation
