R50/53 Oldest MINI Buyer in the US?
Next week my mother-in-law takes delivery of an '04 MINI Cooper, CVT, Pepper white with Black roof. It's being shipped via Concours Transport from Classic MINI in Ohio to Linden, CA. This will be the 3rd MINI in our family, as my wife and I received our MCS's from Classic last November.
The best part of the story is that Norma turned 80 last October. When she saw our MINIs at Thanksgiving, and sat in my wife's car, she really liked it. She asked her husband, Mike, if she could get one too, as she wanted something "sportier" than her Mercury Marquis to drive on the back roads in their farming community. What could he say? She also recently learned that the Fire Chief in their town owns a MINI; and their good friend Remo (a local mechanic) keeps calling to find out when the car will arrive. Needless to say it will be a fun delivery with the "whole town" waiting to see Norma's new MINI
Any other octogenarian MINI buyers out there?

In my area we know of a retired physician in his mid eighties with young (60s) wife who bought an indiblue MC with Italian Job set up. A very nice full aero kit and rally lights with R90 wheels. It was driven by one of the southern calif MINI reps esp for the Italian Job grand opening then brought over to Hawaii to be sold as a demo. It looked great and the new owner was very pleased to land it.
My Mom really likes our MCS. Even said if she was purchasing a new car in the next couple of years it would be the MC w/CVT. She likes my colors, but said she would get CR/W.
She's only 75

Kohu'ulaMINI,
Hey, ain't it grand that these folks remain young at heart. Even my dad, who's 93 and still drives, was impressed after a ride in my MCS. And where is he this weekend ?.....in Houston for the Superbowl. Hope I got his good genes! Aloha

My dad is turning 83 tomorrow and after riding in my MCS last March, he went out and got a 2003 MC ( CVT ). He loves his MC and is just as crazy about it as the rest of us. Anyone top 83 ???????????

I'm not sure of the specifics, but MINI of Charleston has a customer who bought a MINI and drove it back home somewhere in Tennessee (I think) by himself. I pretty sure he was in his early to mid 90's.
But then again, I could be wrong.
I'll have to double check.

Anyone who can make past 90 is a real survivor in my book. If I should be so lucky. Makes me wonder....how old are you?

MSFITOY,
How old am I, you ask? Well, most MINI buyers I've met could be my sons and daughters, but I do see a few that have as much gray hair as me. I am amazed that the MINI does appeal to so many "baby boomers" like me and my wife.
I'll be 58 in March, and my daughter is 17, and just as much into cars as me. Hey, just 22 more years and I'll be 80!
Scoop.
Been toying with the idea of getting intrnet access for my dad. Maybe now that his lady friend of "seventy something" uses it all the time he'll try it.

Hey Charlie,
The biggest draw of the internet for my nonagenarian grandmother is that she keeps in touch with her nieces and nephews back east and overseas. She used to write letters a lot, but the internet is so much faster!

That's nothing. My grandmother on my Dad's side (who is 107) saw my grandfather on my mother's side (who is 103) wheeling around town in his MCS the other week and went out and got herself one. She just finished all of the usual mods, most of them on her own she is proud to say, and now boasts that she is the only mini owner with a hp more or less twice her age. God bless her, we had to damn near pull her out from under the car to get her some sleep during the Magnaflow and header install. She reckons she'll be able to beat the little old lady form Pasadena once she gets it chipped.

Last summer I was at Bogus Basin ski area 16 miles and 237 turns up out of Boise Idaho doing some sight seeing of the old stomping grounds. In the distance and growing louder, I could hear tires squeeling and an engine going through the gears. The sound brough back some fond memories from my youth.
As the Honda Civic drifted through the last turn into the parking lot I was expecting to see some "ricer" kids wearing ball caps backwards. To my surprise there were two old ladies in the car. The driver had an ear to ear grin

Excellent choice! My wife's '02 Cooper CVT is also Pepper White with Black Roof
However, she is only 27!
