R50/53 Radar Detector Directly To Battery
OK, I'm looking at the Beltronic RX65 Pro.
Lots of money but cheaper then a ticket and lawyer.
So, my question. For 10 bucks more, they have a direct cable.
This way it frees up the cigarette lighter.
Anyone have a picture of how to put any wire from inside the car into under the hood.
Any help would be great. Thanks,
ToeKnee

Check out any of the threads that address driving lights, they talk about a grommet that you can pass through.
If you have the euroshelf you could do what I did:

I used an "Add-a-Circuit and taped at fuse 36, it's switched with the accessories, going direct to the Battery would concern me about forgetting to shut it off and draining it.

Good Luck

I ran my wire across the head liner and down the "A Pillar" rubber moulding and just tapped into a fuse that was hot when the ign was turned on.
I have a Phantom II and it's mounted right behind my mirror...you can't see it from in the car and an barely see it peaking out from under my windshield tint band...but I can hear it when I need to... Kinda like not having to look at it and it's mounted high which is suposed to be best.

>>I went to number 36
#36 is an ignition only breaker? My other cars I have set to a breaker that is only on with ignition so I leave my detector "on" all the time so I don't forget. Ignition off, Detector off.
Appreciate your help and picture Smokey 4. This is one car I am afraid to mess with.

just finished the install for the radar detector. I patched into the cig lighter. Everything went in clean, wish I could have popped a few photos to post, but alas I dont have the digital camera. Thanks for the info on the hardwire. All is well now!
I'm going to have my Valentine-1 and some counter measures installed one of these days.
Any innovative solutions to location? Right now, I have two ideas:
Both ideas place both the V-1 remote display and the ZR3 laser shifter under the switches on the central panel. The V-1 would be mounted next to the rear view mirror. Two ideas to conceal the displays:
1. A triangular rotating face which has the radar/laser jammer on one face, a plain piece of matching plastic on one face, and perhaps custom audio level controls or some such stuff on the other.
2. A simple slider which covers the face of the radar/laser display to reveal a cubby (perhaps the plastic one at outmotoring). When the slider is in the down position, it closes the cubby and reveals the radar/laser jammer.
Other ideas?
I recall a picture from the BMW M5 forum? where someone mounted the V-1 remote display components in the rear view mirror...Now that to me is innovative.
